We are looking for an experienced and highly analytical current Assistant Manager / Manager – Production Planning & Control to lead production planning, capacity utilization, material planning, order tracking and delivery coordination for our garments accessories manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in garments accessories, trims or export-oriented garment/textile manufacturing and the ability to convert customer orders into practical, achievable production plans while proactively identifying capacity, material and delivery risks.

This is a hands-on management role. The successful candidate must be able to work closely with Merchandising, Production, Procurement, Commercial, Quality, Warehouse and Management to ensure that customer orders are delivered on time and production resources are utilized efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare and manage daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on confirmed customer orders and delivery commitments.

• Translate customer orders and production requirements into detailed machine/line-wise or process-wise production schedules.

• Plan production according to available machine capacity, manpower, working hours, efficiency, changeover time and process constraints.

• Monitor actual production against plan and immediately identify deviations.

• Re-plan production when there are changes in order priority, material availability, machine breakdowns or capacity constraints.

• Maintain optimum production loading while minimizing idle capacity and unnecessary overtime.

2. Capacity Planning

• Develop and maintain an accurate capacity plan for major machines, processes and production sections.

• Identify bottleneck machines/processes and recommend corrective actions.

• Compare confirmed order loading against available capacity and highlight future capacity shortages.

• Support management in decisions regarding overtime, additional shifts, subcontracting, machine acquisition or capacity expansion.

• Conduct order-wise and process-wise capacity analysis before committing delivery dates.

3. Material / MRP Planning

• Coordinate with Merchandising, Procurement and Warehouse to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.

• Prepare material requirements based on BOM, order quantity, production plan and lead time.

• Monitor RM availability against production requirements.

• Identify material shortages that may affect production or shipment and escalate them proactively.

• Coordinate with Procurement to prioritize urgent materials.

• Ensure that production plans are aligned with actual material availability rather than theoretical requirements.

4. Order & Delivery Control

• Maintain a complete order-wise planning and delivery tracking system.

• Monitor customer orders from confirmation through production and final delivery.

• Track:

  • Order quantity

  • Production quantity

  • WIP

  • Balance quantity

  • Material status

  • Production status

  • Quality status

  • Delivery date

  • Shipment/dispatch status

• Identify orders at risk of delay and prepare recovery plans.

• Ensure that management receives early warning of potential delivery failures.

5. Production Performance Monitoring

• Compare planned vs. actual production on a daily basis.

• Analyse production variances and determine root causes.

• Monitor productivity, efficiency, rejection/rework and downtime where applicable.

• Coordinate with Production and IE teams to improve productivity and capacity utilization.

• Establish realistic production targets based on historical performance and current operating conditions.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with:

• Merchandising

• Procurement

• Commercial

• Warehouse

• Quality Assurance

• Industrial Engineering

• Finance, where required

• Senior Management

The Planning function should act as the central coordination point between customer commitments and factory execution.

7. Management Reporting

Prepare and present concise management reports covering:

• Daily production plan vs. actual

• Order status

• Capacity utilization

• Material availability

• Pending production

• Delivery risk

• Bottleneck processes

• WIP status

• Delayed orders

• Recovery actions

• Future capacity requirements

8. Planning System & Process Improvement

• Develop and continuously improve planning systems, formats and dashboards.

• Introduce data-driven planning and control processes.

• Improve forecast accuracy and production-plan reliability.

• Reduce production interruptions caused by poor planning or material shortages.

• Improve on-time delivery performance.

• Develop appropriate Excel/ERP/MRP-based planning tools.

• Standardize planning procedures across production sections where applicable.
