Education:

Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Environmental Science / Engineering / Occupational Health & Safety/ Management or related field.

NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH, Lead/Internal auditor ISO 45001:2018 or equivalent recognized safety certifications.

Additional Requirements:

Strong computer proficiency with hands-on experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and reporting tools, enabling efficient documentation, data analysis and professional presentations. Leadership and decision-making, effective communication, ability to work under pressure, accuracy and rigour in system application, collaboration with field teams and consultants.



Responsibilities & Context:
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of Health and safety (HS) policies, procedures, guidelines, forms and checklists, ensuring alignment with BLL, ISO 45001 standards, and Group HS standards & and guidelines.

  • Collaborate closely with plant management support, guide, and ensure the implementation and upkeep of the Occupational Health & Safety management system, adhering to BLL, ISO 45001, and group Policy and standards at the respective plant.

  • Assist in leading and facilitating Health and safety Internal Audits, Group Internal Audits, ISO 45001 External Audits, and Regulatory Inspections by the Office of the Inspector General (DIG) of Factories & and Establishments under the Ministry of Labour in plant. 

  • Prepare for the ISO 45001 Certification Audit by ensuring audit readiness, document preparation, and the readiness of auditees and facilities.

  • Assist in devising group HC action plans, ensuring their implementation within the deadlines, and timely reporting.

  • Conduct daily plant visits and inspections of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and rectify potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and providing regular reports to AID tools.

  • Organize and facilitate health & safety training for employees and contractors, maintain accurate records of the same, and input in AID tools.

  • Facilitate monthly HS safety committee meetings, HS management committee meetings, and contractors' safety management committee meetings, prepare meeting minutes, follow up, and report.

  • Ensure the documentation of incidents (near hits, PFI, MTI, LTI, fatality), conduct incident investigations with CAPA, initiate to close the report and report all in AID tools.

  • Assist in conducting and reviewing the HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment) across all departments and manage the Permit to Work (PTW) system.

  • Design, coordinate, and manage safety programs (safety week, oath & prayers) at the plant.

  • Guide all employees, visitors, and contractors in understanding job hazards and safe work practices and verify the toolbox talk records.

  • Maintain accurate records of safety compliance and employee training, generate monthly KPI reports, and keep them available for concern.

  • Provide and ensure safety induction for new employees and contractors and maintain the critical control of contractors.

  • Identify, design, and update the safety signage according to HC group requirements and ISO standard.

  • Ensure the inspection of fire safety equipment (fire extinguisher, fire alarm system, fire hydrant system) and compliance with fire safety requirements.

  • Assist in planning, executing, and conducting various emergency response drills (fire drill, evacuation drill, emergency mock drill, etc.)

  • Assist and work with the HS and plant team to achieve implementation, monitoring, and control of Health and Safety (HS) standards in line with group policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate the purchase and maintenance of safety equipment as advised by the Manager-Health & Safety.

  • Any other relevant tasks (as may be) assigned by the superior as and when required.
