Job Summary:
Urmi Group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Manager / Manager – Fabric Technologist to lead fabric development, technical evaluation, and innovation initiatives. The role is responsible for ensuring fabric quality, performance, and compliance with buyer requirements while supporting product development and cost optimization.
Job Description:
Fabric Development & Innovation
Lead end-to-end fabric development from concept to bulk production.
Collaborate with Design, Merchandising, and Production teams on new fabric developments.
Research and introduce innovative fabrics, finishes, and sustainable materials.
Evaluate fabric construction, performance, and suitability for different product categories.
Technical Evaluation & Quality Assurance
Analyze fabric test reports and ensure compliance with buyer standards.
Troubleshoot fabric-related issues in development and bulk stages.
Approve lab dips, strike-offs, and fabric submissions.
Ensure adherence to international testing standards (ISO, AATCC, etc.).
Supplier & Mill Coordination
Work closely with local and international fabric mills.
Monitor mill performance on quality, lead time, and consistency.
Conduct mill audits and technical visits when required.
Negotiate technical parameters to optimize cost vs. performance.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities for fabric cost optimization.
Support bulk production teams in resolving fabric quality issues.
Implement best practices in fabric inspection and approval processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in fabric sourcing and development.
