Responsibilities & Context:

1. Trend Forecasting & Research:

   • Conduct market research on global fashion trends, color palettes, silhouettes, and yarn innovations.

   • Analyze competitor offerings and consumer preferences to forecast upcoming sweater trends for target seasons.

2. Design & Illustration:

   • Create original sweater designs, patterns, and mood boards using CAD software (such as Illustrator, Photoshop, or specialized knit software like Stoll/Shima Seiki).

   • Design a wide range of knitwear categories, including pullovers, cardigans, turtlenecks, vests, and dresses across various gauges (from coarse to fine gauge).

3. Tech Pack Preparation & Sampling:

   • Develop detailed and accurate tech packs containing design specifications, yarn compositions, stitch structures, measurement charts, and trim details.

   • Collaborate closely with the sampling and merchandising teams to oversee the development of initial prototypes and fit samples.

   • Review samples, provide constructive feedback, and make necessary adjustments to ensure design integrity and fit.

4. Yarn & Material Sourcing:

   • Select appropriate yarns (cotton, wool, acrylic, blends, sustainable fibers, etc.) keeping seasonal comfort, cost-efficiency, and aesthetic appeal in mind.

   • Work with suppliers and sourcing teams to approve yarn swatches, colors, and trims.

5. Production Coordination:

   • Coordinate with production facilities, merchandisers, and quality control teams to resolve technical challenges during bulk production.

   • Ensure that production samples match approved design specifications and maintain high standards of quality.
