Job Context:
∎ Association of Voluntary Actions for Society (AVAS) has been working in Bangladesh since 1998, with a vision of "Environment friendly, gender sensitive, fair and self dependent plural society" in Bangladesh. AVAS is currently implementing development and humanitarian projects in Barishal Division. AVAS is looking for a Upazila Coordinator for its "Logistics support and capacity building for humanitarian actors helping vulnerable populations of Barishal District in Bangladesh" funded by CDCS and Handicap International-Humanity & Inclusion (HI). Upazila Coordinator will contribute to the project mandate in where s/he is based. The Upazila Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation this project, ensuring the optimal quality of the project.
∎ Line Manager : Project Manager
∎ Type of Contract: Contractual
∎ Duration of the Contract: August 2023 to May 2024
∎ Job Location: Barishal Sadar or Mehendigonj Upazila of Barishal District.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Implement activities, tools, and the associated resources, and implement the action plan.
∎ Activity implementation and ensure the resources are correctly mobilized as per Project Documents.
∎ Regular reporting of activities, and contribute to the internal and external reporting.
∎ Coordination communication with the local stakeholders and to monitoring the partnership relationship with the project partners.
∎ Support to project manager and technical officer-DRR to conduct community Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (VCA), contingency plan development and disaster preparedness activities at community level.
∎ Organize meeting and work with union or Upazila Disaster Management Committee (UDMC/UzDMC)
∎ Conduct community awareness on inclusive early warning system or messages
∎ Support to vulnerable community to ensure inclusive WASH and shelter repair
∎ Assist the Union/Field facilitators.
∎ Assist the effective consultation (participation) of communities affected by crisis before, during, and beyond humanitarian interventions.
∎ Implement of humanitarian Activities.
∎ Develop Action plan and implement accordingly.
∎ Follow all direction of Project Manager and AVAS Management regarding this project
∎ Assist and support to qualitative and timely financial Management
∎ Assist project monitoring, specifically activity progress indicators and the expected outcomes.
∎ Assist project evaluations when require.
∎ Comply accountability mechanisms.
∎ Document project learning.
∎ Contribute coordination meetings.
∎ Strive to maintain a healthy environment in the office and community.
∎ Assist to function CRM process in the project area.
∎ Ensure safeguarding mechanism in community level.
∎ Communicate with the local Administration, project partners, authorities, and stakeholders when relevant.
∎ Perform emergency preparedness initiatives, and effective humanitarian response.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 20 years
∎ At least 2 years' experience working on the same thematic, preferably in development and humanitarian contexts especially in DRR related project.
∎ Experience and comprehensive understanding of disability issues, awareness-raising, and training implementation and reporting.
∎ Experience working in a remote community setting is an advantage.
∎ Knowledge of disability and development issues in Bangladesh.
∎ Have the capacity to maintain close relationships with partners, stakeholders, and clients
∎ Experience in contributing to data collection and indicator tracking within development projects or programs
∎ Computer knowledge (MS Office package- both in English and Bangla)
∎ Excellent communication skills.
∎ Ability to work under pressure and in a multicultural team environment.
∎ Availability to travel to remote areas and spend time at the field level.

Salary:
∎ Tk. 30000 - 35000 (Monthly)
∎ Salary will be determined based on experience, qualification and budget availability. Festival bonus will be paid prorate based according to the project allocation and AVAS Policy.
