Responsibilities & Context:

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

This position will support the overall planning, implementation, monitoring, and supervision of the Humanitarian Play Lab project. He/She ensures the quality, efficiency, and impact of program activities targeting young children in crisis affected areas through safe, playful and nurturing environments. The role enquires strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills with and understanding of early childhood development, humanitarian play lab programming and child protection principles. This position will also be responsible for designing, planning, conducting and coordinating the required training regarding mental health and wellbeing.

  • Ensure the planned activities align with HPL and child protection best practices and organizational standards

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of humanitarian play labs in coordination with field teams

  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of child friendly centered play sessions, psychosocial support activities, and parent/caregiver engagement

  • Ensure the capacity development plan timely

  • Collaborate with the project team to design and integrate mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) into play-based learning

  • Assist in developing training materials and organize training and workshops for staff, play leaders, caregivers and community members on HPL curriculum, child psychology, trauma, resilience etc.

  • Design training schedule, module and budget with input from concerned persons.

  • Strong understanding of child psychology, developmental milestones, and trauma.

  • Support the Programme Manager in developing detailed implementation plans and ensuring timely delivery of project activities

Safeguarding

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. 

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
