Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Fabric Development & Design: Collaborate with design and production teams to create and develop innovative fabrics using circular knitting techniques. Ensure that the fabric meets the desired design, performance, and aesthetic specifications.
∎ Circular Knitting Expertise: Manage and oversee the circular knitting process, from selecting raw materials to ensuring machine settings are optimized for each fabric type. Understand the intricacies of different circular knitting machines (e.g., single jersey, interlock, rib) and their impact on fabric quality.
∎ Fabric Quality Control: Monitor fabric quality throughout the production process. Perform regular inspections to ensure fabrics meet specified standards for durability, texture, color fastness, and weight.
∎ Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to circular knitting machines, such as machine breakdowns, yarn tension problems, or fabric defects. Implement corrective actions and continuously monitor fabric performance.
∎ Process Optimization: Analyze production processes to identify areas for efficiency improvements, cost reductions, and waste minimization. Ensure that production timelines are adhered to while maintaining high-quality standards.
∎ Material Selection: Provide expertise in selecting the right types of yarns, fibers, and additives that are compatible with circular knitting machines and the intended fabric performance. Ensure material sourcing aligns with environmental and cost objectives.
∎ Fabric Testing & Documentation: Conduct various tests (e.g., shrinkage, tensile strength, stretch recovery) to evaluate fabric properties and performance. Document and analyze test results for continuous improvement in fabric quality.
∎ Collaboration with Suppliers: Work with yarn and material suppliers to ensure that the raw materials meet the technical specifications required for circular knitting. Address any issues with materials and resolve them promptly.
∎ Sustainability Focus: Advise on sustainable practices in fabric development, from sourcing eco-friendly materials to improving energy efficiency in production processes.
∎ Team Leadership & Training: Lead and mentor a team of technicians and operators, ensuring they are well-trained in machine operations, fabric specifications, and troubleshooting. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
