- The Oporajita- Collective Impact on Future of Work in Bangladesh Project supports women working in the ready-made garment (RMG) industries (including out-of-work) to increase the share of women in managerial and supervisory roles in RMG due to improved redressal and action on GBV, reduction in harassment and biases at-home and at-factory, and through gender-equitable policies and practices at workplace. The overall goal of the project is women garment workers have an improved enabling environment that supports their career progression, empowerment, and employability, in a future where the textile industry is defined by automation and digitalization. We intended around 24000 women will have greater capacity to respond to and recover from future and current adverse impact on livelihood. This program is implemented under Dignified Work Portfolio which aims to create dignified work for all women. This theme implements multiple projects on capacity building of workers and the entire ecosystem within the RMG sector.
- Develop self-sustaining Women Café model leading to sustainability of the project. A labor market assessment is to be conducted to understand the demand and supply side of the particular local context and to identify the viable trade for women Cafe. The project will design and plan basic entrepreneurship skills and trade Technical/Vocational skills development training.
- All 800 selected women will receive the basic entrepreneurship skills including the business selection process, business planning and management, business accounting, customer dealing, and market linkages from the project. it would be five days of training where only food will be provided. Two hundred (200) out of those 800 will be selected and provided with trade-based skills training and the project will provide training fees for those participants. Training strategy will be defined based on a selected trade.
- The Technical Officer – Business & Market will lead to establishing links with markets, banks, non-bank financial institutions, and relevant private sector entities.
- According to the trade nature and requirements, the project will identify the public and private sectors that have the potential for Women Cafe’s growth and sustainability and establish Women's cafe linkages with that sector through organizing meetings/workshops and MOU will be held with agencies that provide financial assistance to the potential cases of entrepreneurship.
II. Responsibilities and Tasks: - % of Time
Responsibility # 1: Support provided for market assessment and TNA completion. - 20%
- Support to Consultants for conducting marker assessment and mapping the appropriate formal and informal sectors for skills-based women workers.
- Identify the potential trade for business/IGA training.
- Data collection will be less traditional (a smaller number of FGD, KII) and more market visit based.
- Identify at least 15 private sector organizations that are the suppliers of commodities in the project area and potential future partners of Oporajita.
- Develop guidelines and training modules based on the concept and strategies.
- Develop action plan based on recommendations and findings of market assessment.
- Map out the potential markets, banks, non-bank financial institutions, and relevant private sector entities.
- Support provides training need assessment with the project participants and local service providers, and relevant market actors.
Responsibility # 2: Capacity building of Staff, Project Participants and Stakeholders - 20%
- Organize training and meeting for the staff to roll out the IGA and operational the women cafe.
- Orientation to working for WFS base savings association/ self help group among the interested members in their own management.
- Mange and supervise technical skills training closely.
- Work closely with WFS-F to roll out the interventions.
- Work with WFS Team to list potential participants for Technical Skills Training, Internship and Business Education training etc.
- Conduct different capacity building initiatives for local service providers and market actors.
- Identify and analyze the constraints faced by informal sector workers and market actors and provide them with guidance to address those constraints.
Responsibility # 3: Linkage with relevant markets, banks, non-bank financial institutions, and relevant private sector entities. - 30%
- Mapping the relevant markets, banks and non-bank financial institutions and related private sectors.
- Identify potential service providers and market actors in relevant field and explore opportunities/scopes of work with them.
- Communicate and negotiate with market actors like- markets, banks, non-bank financial institutions, and relevant private sector entities.
- Establish and Conduct MOU with the potential 10 stakeholders.
Responsibility # 4: Monitoring, reporting and documentation of the IGA interventions. - 20%
- Monitor the IGA interventions and provide feedback and firsthand mentoring to improve the intervention and results.
- Update Intervention Guides (IGs) in collaboration with MEL Coordinator and Project Manager (PM).
- Support to MEL Coordinator to documents the successful business case, best practices of women cafe, IGA and WFS based savings association.
- Prepare periodic progress reports, business database, success story book, lesson learnt documents and other communication materials on the market intervention.
Responsibility # 5: Contribution in planning and coordination with other projects. - 10%
- Assist to Project Manager in developing project’s document for market interventions and preparing budget.
- Maintain close communication with CI team and other project under the Women and Youth Program unit.
- Participate in and contribute to other activities for a better coordination and enhanced impacts of the activities (joint events, training, workshops, etc.); if feasible.
