  • Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA) and/or Trauma-Informed Interviewing.

  • Strong understanding of case management principles and referral pathways.

  • Experience in service mapping and coordination mechanisms.

  • Experience delivering training and mentoring staff.

  • Experience supervising assistants/volunteers.

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Kobo, databases).

  • Fluency in Rohingya and good English language skills.



Responsibilities & Context:

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is recruiting a Protection from Violence Officer in Teknaf to support Rohingya refugee response activities. NRC has been operating in Bangladesh since 2018, providing services in education, shelter, WASH, legal assistance (ICLA), emergency response, and protection. The Protection Officer will support activities in camps 26 and 27 in Teknaf, focusing on protection case management and individual protection assistance for vulnerable refugees. The role includes managing protection cases, identifying individuals requiring assistance, coordinating with partners and stakeholders, and contributing to program implementation, reporting, and capacity building while upholding NRC’s core values of dedication, innovation, inclusivity, and accountability.

Key Tasks and Assignments:

  • With the support of the Protection from Violence Coordinator, provide technical expertise, including training, coaching and mentorship to both NRC and national partner staff in protection case management and Individual Protection Assistance.

  • Support contextualisation of NRC's case management and Individual Protection Assistance tools to fit the Bangladesh context and ensure cases are managed in line with international Best Practices and guiding principles.

  • Support the development, maintenance and roll out of case management processes (Service mapping, protocols, referral pathway, SOPs, databases).

  • Carry out Individual Protection Assistance identification, assessment, intake and support of cases.

  • Carry out all Protection Case Management activities, including intake, assessment, planning, implementation of case plans, monitoring, and closure of cases.

  • Organise regular case conferencing with the Protection Programme Development Manager and Protection Coordinator to discuss and agree on the direction cases should take.

  • Conduct Household visits (where possible) and centre-based interviews to assess and plan for case management of cases and Individual Protection Assistance.

  • Participate in awareness-raising sessions, discussions, and meetings to provide information to project participants about the rights and entitlements, including about available services in the communities and how to access them.

  • Participate in data collection processes, including surveys, assessments, and studies, where necessary.

  • Support localised service mapping and building linkages across centres to support referrals to internal and external services.

  • Carry out regular checks on data collection tools, including databases, to ensure accuracy in data collection and storage and ensure compliance with data protection.

  • Contribute to efficient collaboration with relevant local authorities and key stakeholders and represent NRC in relevant forums.

  • Identify, assess and provide Individual Protection Assistance (IPA) to the most at-risk individuals.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential case files and ensure compliance with data protection policy.

  • Represent NRC in coordination meetings and relevant forums.

  • Support in different documentation-related tasks, including filing, note-taking and preparing summaries.

  • Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards following the Organisation's policy.

  • Support any other tasks as required.
