Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Operate and monitor sizing machines and equipment (such as sizing frames, creels) to apply sizing agents to yarns or fabrics.
∎ Prepare sizing solutions by accurately mixing sizing chemicals (e.g., starch, PVA, or synthetic sizing agents) with water according to established formulations.
∎ Adjust machine settings, including temperature, speed, and pressure, to ensure optimal sizing and consistent product quality.
∎ Inspect sized yarns or fabrics for defects, uneven sizing, or inconsistencies in thickness.
∎ Perform regular tests on the sized yarns, such as checking for strength, elasticity, and uniformity, to ensure they meet the required quality standards.
∎ Adjust the sizing process or application when needed to address any defects or quality issues.
∎ Monitor the inventory of sizing chemicals, yarns, and other materials required for the sizing process.
∎ Perform routine maintenance on sizing machines and equipment to ensure smooth operation and prevent breakdowns.
∎ Keep accurate records of the sizing process, including machine settings, chemical mixtures, production quantities, and quality inspection results.
∎ Work closely with the weaving team and other production staff to ensure that sized yarns or fabrics meet their requirements for the next stages of production.
∎ Ensure that the team is properly trained.
