Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor or Masters in Law from any recognized university with minimum second class/division or equivalent GPA/CGPA in all academic examinations.
∎ Enrolled as an advocate in Bangladesh Bar Council. (Cox's Bazar Judge court is preferable).

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Closely coordinate with UNHCR Legal Protection and law enforcement agencies and courts to ensure quality, timely and effective delivery of legal support and of Persons of Concern (PoCs) in courts and police stations.
∎ Guide lawyers to support PoCs to file complaints, FIR, GD and cases at police stations and courts.
∎ Provide legal representation and support to PoCs at Cox's Bazar Sadar police stations and courts.
∎ Conduct visits to detention centers and advocate or intervene with law enforcement agencies including Cox's Bazar Sadar police and courts to release PoCs held in detention.
∎ Inform and facilitate PoCs to attend court when required.
∎ Organize prison visits for refugees to visit immediate/close family members in prison.
∎ Keep accurate records of court cases and prepare case reports, case summary report and case progress report to be submitted daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly report.
∎ Provide legal advice on court cases involving PoCs and legal opinions on legal matters/issues/developments impacting on PoCs.
∎ Update PoCs refugees with police and court cases on a regular basis and whenever there is a new development.
∎ Lawyers will regular monitoring the prisons and keep records, documentation and send report to Project manager. She/he will organize training, workshops and advocacy sessions across the spectrum of official and legal authorities in the area, support of specialist trainers will be sought when required.
∎ She/he will collect details of people with relatives in prison and send report to the lawyers.
∎ Establish and maintain good network with the judicial institutions and government stakeholders including the courts, police and prison officials in Cox's Bazar to deliver effective legal assistance to the POC.
∎ Support Jail visit activities and do advocacy with jailer to make the jail visit process smoother.
∎ Prepare monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly legal statements/ reports and work plan as per guideline.
∎ Perform administrative and management functions.
∎ Support in urgent basis cases.
∎ Perform all other duties as and when required by the Manager/ Supervisor.

∎ Prepare internal and external reports within agreed deadlines using BRAC and donor formats.

∎ Provide related feedback to Legal officers & associate legal officers, develop action plans.
∎ Collaborate with Project Manager and Deputy Project Manager to ensure programming is properly supported and that all activities are conducted according to BRAC Administration, HR, Logistics, Finance and other policies and procedures.
∎ Coordinate with BRAC's other departments as required to ensure effective and collaborative working relationships.
∎ Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders including community members, NGOs, government authorities and UN agencies.
∎ Participate in internal coordination meetings as required and liaise with BRAC's other programs as needed to ensure effective collaboration.
∎ Coordinate and follow-up with partner organizations and other project stakeholders as required.
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme's goals on safeguarding implementation.
∎ Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 5 years' experience in legal practice in criminal and civil matters in court in Bangladesh with good reputation. ( Practitioner of Cox's Bazar Court with give preference).
∎ 3 years of progressively responsible relevant professional work experience in the development or humanitarian response area.
∎ Strong writing skills and experience in writing Qualitative and Narrative reports.
∎ Ability to organize and prioritize work and competing tasks, meet deadlines and maintain composure.
∎ Excellent communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, maintain confidentiality, respect of all ages, background and diversity.
∎ Knowledge on national and international laws and policies applicable to refugees.
∎ Knowledge and skill on legal practices in national courts.
∎ Proven skills and competencies to work with MS Office and data analysis and presentation packages.
∎ Experience in documentation support functions, such as referencing and terminology, editing and handling of official documentation is an asset.
∎ Excellent communication and articulation skills, awareness of socio-economic, cultural and political sensitivities.
∎ Effective communication, report writing and presentation for external and internal audiences.
∎ Understanding in evidence-based behavior change practices.
∎ Fluency on written in English is a must.
∎ Drafting and reporting skills, accuracy in document production and editing
∎ Fluency in English and Bangla languages including Chittagonian dialect. Excellent English drafting and reporting skills are required.
