Experience:

Knowledge:
• Textile and craft-based product design (embroidery, stitching, macramé, jute, denim, knitwear, etc.).
• Rohingya cultural aesthetics and artisanal traditions.

• Sustainable, inclusive, and cost-effective production methods.
Skills:

The Assistant Technical Specialist – Design will lead product design and development for handicraft items, transforming Rohingya artisans’ traditional skills into high-quality, marketable, and culturally relevant products. The role ensures innovation, quality, and commercial viability, supporting the production center’s path toward self-reliance during the project period.
Design & Product Development
Create and develop commercially viable designs for garments, knitwear, denim, baby clothing, caps, and handicrafts.
Integrate Rohingya cultural artistry with contemporary market trends.
Conduct research on seasonal trends, production innovations, and market demand.
Prototype new designs in coordination with the production team, ensuring cost-effectiveness and feasibility.
Maintain design archives, version control of samples, and product development documentation.
Technical Guidance & Training
Provide hands-on design guidance and training to Bangladeshi trainers and Rohingya artisans.
Assist in developing design manuals, sampling guidelines, and quality standards.
Monitor and mentor artisans to strengthen their design and production skills.
Collaboration & Market Linkage
Work closely with production team, ATS Business development and ATS marketing to ensure alignment of designs with production capacity and sales objectives.
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for materials, techniques, and design feedback.
Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.
Safeguarding
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
