BRAC Health Programme and BRAC Road Safety Programme will jointyly implement this pilot project “ Piloting the Emergency Medical Services Protocol for Road Crash Victims” in collaboration with Bangladesh Health Watch (BHW), relevant government agencies, and local actors. The project seeks to operationalize the “ Guidelines for Emergency Services for Road Crash Victims,” a nationally aligned emergency care protocol developed by BHW in collaboration with Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) and the Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB).
Under this project BRAC will carry out on-site post-crash response, triage, transportation coordination and facility linkage activities, and will ensure that appropriate training is delivered to community health workers, volunteers, transport providers and health care workers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead planning, coordination, and execution of the pilot implementation in line with the approved work plan and government-endorsed EMS protocol.
Serve as the central operational focal point for real-time emergency response, ensuring timely coordination from crash alert to hospital handover.
Coordinate with police, fire service, health facilities, and local administration to ensure preparedness, rapid response, and protocol compliance.
Lead incident reviews, learning reflection including baseline and endline assessment, and contribution to interim and final reports, including protocol refinement recommendations if necessary.
Supervise and guide Community Health Workers (CHWs), Call Center Operators, and Field-level Volunteers
Supervise and provide technical and operational guidance to Community Health Workers (CHWs), Call Center Operators, and field-level volunteers to ensure community sensitization, timely response, quality service delivery, and compliance with standard operating procedures
Oversee the functioning of the 24/7 call centre, including response tracking, data documentation, and performance monitoring.
Ensure effective stakeholder communication, risk management, and timely troubleshooting of operational challenges throughout the pilot period.
Maintain accurate records, dashboards, and reporting systems to support monitoring, evaluation, and learning, and to inform decision-making for future scale-up.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
