Skills Required:

Additional Requirements:
  • At least of 3 years of experience in a clinical lab setting is required; prior humanitarian/camp experience is preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in point-of-care testing.
  • Familiarity with disease surveillance and outbreak testing protocols.
  • Understanding of IPC and biomedical waste management.
  • IT Skills: Basic knowledge of computer applications (MS-Office) is desirable.

Job Purpose of Laboratory Technician:

The Laboratory Technologist will provide diagnostic testing and laboratory support for the NCD Program at the Health Post (HP) in Project for promotion of primary and secondary prevention of non-communicable diseases and strengthening its follow-up system in Forcibility Displaced Myanmar Nationals in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The role ensures accurate diagnosis and monitoring of NCDs such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases, contributing to disease surveillance and patient management. The Laboratory Technologist will support ongoing screenings and assist in outbreak response efforts within the service area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct diagnostic tests for NCDs (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases) to support accurate diagnosis and monitoring.

• Ensure proper handling, processing, and analysis of laboratory samples.

• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is well-calibrated and in good working condition.

• Maintain adequate stock of laboratory supplies and consumables, including regular inventory checks, proper storage, timely requisition, and prevention of stock-outs.

• Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.

• Collaborate with the clinical team especially Medical Officer and Screener to integrate laboratory findings into patient care plans.

• Contribute to NCD disease surveillance and monitoring, supporting ongoing screenings.

• Assist in outbreak response and provide laboratory support for public health interventions.

• Ensure adherence to infection control and safety standards within the laboratory.

• Participate in training and capacity-building activities as required.

Quality, Ethics, and Compliance

• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow organizational Code of Conduct, PSEA, and workplace safety policies.

• Participate in regular team meetings for information sharing, coordination, and service improvement.

• Attend trainings, capacity-building activities, and organizational programs as assigned.

• Perform any other duties assigned by the authority relevant to Health Post operations.
