∎ JOB PURPOSE: The purpose of this role is to develop an impactful media and external relations strategy for BRAC and lead its implementation to maximise reach and uphold the organisation`s image and reputation through meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders. This is a key role working with the senior leadership of BRAC and BRAC International and the senior leadership team of BRAC affiliates so that the right messages are portrayed to external stakeholders, including media, at times of crisis and also in regular external communication.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Ensuring that leading and influential media are effectively targeted.
∎ Monitoring media and working to build a 24/7 response mechanism.
∎ Developing and maintaining strong and productive relationships with journalists from key media outlets, along with strong editorial and advertising partnerships.
∎ Developing protocols and messages to deal with negative coverage and emergencies.
∎ Working with content, program, campaign, and internal communication teams to establish a flow of stories to disseminate through media.
∎ Strategically advising and supporting key spokespeople undertaking media interviews.
∎ Serving as a media spokesperson when required.
∎ Overseeing the issue of news releases and playing a leading role in signing off all media output.
∎ Scanning the external policy and political environment and critically assessing opportunities.
∎ Providing analysis on opportunities, threats and risks for BRAC's external engagement.
∎ Developing and maintaining comprehensive stakeholder mapping and engagement.
∎ Contributing towards providing strong executive leadership to deliver on all activities.
∎ Representing the organisation externally at global and regional events where required.
∎ Playing an active role in promoting best practice in media and external relations work.
∎ Collaborating with the Internal and Leadership Communication team to ensure uniformity in internal and external message dissemination.
∎ Collaborating with the Program Communication team to develop capacity among communication focal points and also to some extent among BRAC's general staff in general to ensure and understanding about media relations.
∎ SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme's goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 08 years of experience in relevant field.
∎ Proficiency in developing media briefs, press releases, standing statements, using media analytics tools, office software (MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), exceptional interpersonal skills and relationship management.
∎ Existing media practices, latest trends in the media, message disseminating channels, media work flow across television, newspaper, radio and online, best practices in development and humanitarian sector, cross-cultural communications, communication materials, crisis management, role of a spokesperson, social media tools.
∎ Time management, meeting deadlines, project management, setting priorities, setting yearly action plan, identifying and implementing new technology to support new channels of effective and interactive external communication.
