Job Context:
∎ The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.
∎ CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD`s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment.
∎ The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.
∎ Since November 2017, CDD in partnership with CBM is implementing humanitarian response for the Rohingyas and Host Communities in Ukhia, Cox`s Bazar. As per operational strategy 2020-22, the current key activities of the response consist of (1) the provision of multidisciplinary rehabilitation services, (2) running of a Therapy Corner to provide rehabilitation and other related services for the Children with severe impairments, and (3) technical support to mainstream organizations, advocacy with sectors to include persons with disabilities in the humanitarian action
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Purpose of the Job: To manage CDD's inclusion projects and provide technical support to mainstream humanitarian actors and sectors to improve inclusion of persons with disabilities in the humanitarian response
∎ Main jobs/functions and key responsibilities:
∎ This position has dual project management and inclusion technical responsibilities. The position will be responsible for managing all of CDD's Inclusion Projects and Inclusion Team, while at the same time providing technical support to the team and representing CDD in humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
∎ Project Management:
∎ Contribute to planning, implementation, and monitoring of consortium/projects interventions in coordination with CBM and CDD teams.
∎ Ensure quality project implementation through developing action plans, technical tools and performance monitoring of team etc.
∎ Support CBM's Humanitarian Disability Inclusion Advisor & DI specialist to develop and implement a detailed action plan for implementation of DI strategy with mainstream actors, consortium partners & sectors.
∎ In collaboration with CDD finance team, develop forecast, monitor project expenditure and financial reporting of project/s.
∎ Assist in mid-term, end of project evaluation and narrative reporting as required.
∎ Support CDD's MEAL Officer and PM in regular data collection/needs assessment/survey, capture important learning milestones, data analysis and indicator follow-up for the program.
∎ Ensure regular collection of stories, lessons learned on inclusive humanitarian practices.
∎ Capacity Development (Internal):
∎ In collaboration with CBM's Humanitarian Disability Inclusion Advisor, DI specialist and CDD Program Manager develop capacity development plan for CDD inclusion team and provide supervision, coaching and on-the-job training.
∎ Help CBM DI Specialist to develop a comprehensive capacity building package including the provision of training, on-site technical support, review of strategy, key tools, plans, and communication materials for the AHP consortium.
∎ Seek support of relevant resources within CDD & CBM and beyond to execute capacity development plan of the team.
∎ Adapt and execute the induction process for new staff and conduct the staff evaluation as and when relevant.
∎ Capacity Building & Technical Support (external):
∎ Work with World Vision and other mainstream organizations/partners to lead on assessment of barriers and facilitators of services and incorporate disability inclusion into their programming (and sectors including WASH, health, protection, education, DRR among others) in line with the Humanitarian Inclusion Standards & IASC guidelines on inclusion.
∎ Help in designing modules and support humanitarian partners in collecting disability disaggregated data using the Washington Group Questions and conducting Capacity Gap Analysis.
∎ Work with humanitarian organizations to incorporate components on disability inclusion into their existing IEC/BCC strategy, training materials and programs.
∎ Identify, involve and work closely with disability movement (organisations of persons with disabilities, SHGs, spokespersons, activists) in order to support affected communities voices being included in the humanitarian assistance.
∎ Maintain regular coordination with CDD teams (Rehabilitation, MHPSS) to exchange information on barriers to access to services at camp/host community level and use these in advocacy, training etc.
∎ External Representation and Advocacy:
∎ Co-chair the Age and Disability Working Group (ADWG) and coordinate efforts with ADWG members to influence sectoral strategy and policies.
∎ Participate in other cluster coordination meetings jointly with CBM's Humanitarian Disability Inclusion Advisor & DI Specialist in developing learnings and good practice and to devise strategy and identify opportunities to promote disability mainstreaming.
∎ Participate in consortium meetings and other relevant meetings as required.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 30 to 50 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ At least 10 years of experience including 5 years of experience in managing humanitarian or development projects ideally focused on inclusion of persons with disabilities, older persons or other at risk groups
∎ Working knowledge of the humanitarian coordination system is essential.
∎ Experience working with partners and other international stakeholders (UN, INGOs) essential.
∎ Experience in capacity building and delivering trainings, preferably in the field of age and /or disability
∎ Knowledge / understanding on the rights of persons with disabilities, older people or other at-risk groups and their challenges in humanitarian/development context
∎ Desirable:
∎ Experience in an advocacy or technical support position
∎ Experience in WaSH, education and protection sectors.
∎ Experience in Rohingya response
∎ Experience working in consortium/ working groups/ cluster system
Salary:
∎ Tk. 125000 - 130000 (Monthly)
∎ Prorata basis festival allowancesh) Insurance as per organizational agreed coverage
