Responsibilities & Context:
  • Responsibilities for Research Activities (50% Time Allocation)

  • Assist in the implementation process of the project as per the requirements of gender and social inclusion issues.

  • Comprehend and adopt the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, PAR process, and iterative learning process.

  • Assist in determining and analyzing locally-led adaptation options, locally-led iterative learning, and inclusive innovative business models for the adaptive transformation of Water Management Groups (WMGs) and polder management systems.

  • Understand and assist in conducting the political economy analysis of the selected polders by examining structures, institutions, and change agents, particularly in terms of power dynamics and gender issues.

  • Assist in building the capacity of the Water Management Groups (WMGs) for the selected polders, considering environmental, socio-economic, and governance issues.

  • Assist in identifying climatic and non-climatic problems and challenges faced by farming communities in the coastal polders.

  • Assist in identifying climate adaptation options, synthesizing adaptation strategies, and developing adaptation screening tools that respond to shifting biophysical conditions and weather patterns, with corresponding farming options.

  • Assist in analyzing multi-criteria decision-making in terms of socio-economic conditions, governance, and gender.

  • Assist in identifying input and output markets for agriculture adaptation-related business models and conducting value chain analysis with gender and social inclusion criteria (women, youth, children, and marginalized people), aligned with locally-led adaptation principles.

  • Assist in developing process guides for community development and capacity building of WMGs and change agents.

  • Assist in engaging and building the capacity of the local learning leadership group and the multi-stakeholder advisory group.

  • Assist in preparing guides aligned with locally-led adaptation (LLA) principles with a robust understanding of climate risks and uncertainty.

  • Assist the field team in applying action learning to build the capacity of change agents, farming communities, and WMGs, co-creating the process for socio-adaptive locally-led learning.

  • Assist in conducting multi-stakeholder analyses to identify leadership qualities and support the field team at the ground level.

  • Provide support for mapping stakeholders, selecting key actors, and contributing intellectually to the organization of local multi-stakeholder advisory groups.

  • Assist in implementing locally-led adaptation options and learning processes at the ground level, while documenting iterative learning.

  • Assist at the ground level and contribute to capacity building by coordinating farmer groups and members for technology evaluation and establishing a "living library" (farmers participating in adaptive practices).

  • Contribute to developing guides and manuals for capacity building of change agents, WMGs, advisory groups, and group-to-group learning while evaluating processes and tools for LLA and effective evidence-based extension.

  • Assist in facilitating and conducting training sessions for change agents, WMGs, farming communities, and other stakeholders as required by the project.

  • Assist in documenting group-to-group learning activities as case studies, with a specific focus on leadership research, collective learning, and farmers as leaders.

  • Assist in group-to-group learning processes for mutual capacity building.

  • Assist in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities, including data collection, analysis, and report writing for research initiatives.

  • Assist in preparing research articles as required by the Principal Investigator and the study team.

  • Responsibilities for Fundraising Activities (50% Time Allocation)

  • Assist in preparing project proposals, grant applications, and donor reports.

  • Conduct research on funding opportunities, potential donors, and development trends.

  • Prepare concept notes, case studies, and success stories for advocacy and fundraising purposes.

  • Maintain donor databases and assist in stakeholder communication.

  • Collaborate with program teams to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities.

  • Assist in organizing fundraising events, networking sessions, and donor meetings.

  • Assist in preparing project reports and conducting field monitoring as required.

  • Assist in conducting and facilitating various assessments, surveys, workshops, awareness events, inception meetings, and coordination meetings at the ground level.

  • Regularly conduct field visits, provide guidance, supervision, and technical support to project staff.

  • Regularly attend organizational and project meetings for updates and knowledge-sharing.
