• Master’s or PhD in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Sociology, Anthropology Education, Gender Studies, or a related discipline.

• The selected candidate must stay in Cox’s Bazar for the duration of the assignment.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in social research, preferably in education, gender, or development projects.

• Proven experience designing and implementing research tools and methods, including surveys, FGDs, KIIs, and participatory research, and strong data analysis skills (qualitative and quantitative).

• Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.

• Excellent report writing and documentation in Bangla and English.

• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

• Ability to work independently and manage timelines and field activities.

• Proficient in MS Office and digital research platforms (Kobo, ODK, Survey Solutions).

• Experience in report writing, policy brief preparation, and academic or project documentation.

• Familiarity with ethical research practices and digital data collection tools.

About the Project:

Promoting Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Schools Building on What Children Value and Aspire to Do and Be (GESI) project aims to create school environments where children are taught and experience gender equality and social inclusion and actively contribute to shaping these values. It will focus on what children value as essential to living a good life and their ability to do and be, also referred to as children’s valued capabilities.

Role Summary:

The Social Researcher will provide technical expertise in conducting qualitative and quantitative research to inform project activities. The role includes designing and implementing surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and other participatory research methods to analyze social inclusion, gender equality, and education-related issues at school and community levels. The Social Researcher will also produce evidence-based recommendations, reports, and policy briefs to support the project’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage qualitative and quantitative research studies.

• Conduct surveys, key informant interviews (KIIs), focus group discussions (FGDs), and participatory assessments.

• Collect, clean, and analyze data using software such as SPSS, Stata, Excel

• Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and research summaries in Bangla and English.

• Support fieldwork coordination, team supervision, and community engagement activities.

• Ensure ethical compliance in all research activities, including using digital data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, Survey Solutions).

• Provide evidence-based recommendations to improve GESI integration in schools.

• This is a contractual assignment for a duration of 20 days, with a total contract value of 2,00,000 Taka (inclusive of all VAT and taxes).

• VAT & Tax will be deducted as per Government policy.
