Experience Requirements

  • The candidate should have 8–10 years of practical experience in garment merchandising, apparel buying, and manufacturing, with solid knowledge of the overall garment production and merchandising process. Strong hands-on knowledge of product development, sourcing, costing, production follow-up, quality control, and shipment execution is required.

Responsibilities & Context:

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete garment merchandising and production cycle for Knit, Woven, and Sweater products, from product development and sampling through bulk production and final shipment, ensuring compliance with buyer quality and delivery standards.
  • Manage all merchandising communication, including order files, status reports, T&A plans, costing sheets, and tracking documentation.
  • Handle order specifications, costing breakdowns, consumption, pricing, and supplier/factory communication.
  • Prepare and execute detailed T&A (Time & Action) plans in coordination with buyers, suppliers, and factories.
  • Supervise sample development, including development, fit, PP, size set, pre-production, shipment samples, and other buyer-required samples, ensuring timely submission and quality consistency.
  • Possess strong hands-on knowledge of Knit, Woven, and Sweater garment manufacturing processes, including T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, hoodies, tank tops, shirts, blouses, trousers, jackets, cardigans, pullovers, sweaters, and other apparel products.
  • Ensure timely sourcing and approval of fabrics, yarns, trims, labels, accessories, packaging materials, and other raw materials while maintaining required quality standards.
  • Follow up on fabric, yarn, and garment development, including lab dips, strike-offs, fabric/yarn testing, GSM, shrinkage, color, hand feel, construction, and other buyer requirements.
  • Monitor sweater-specific requirements such as yarn development, gauge, stitch, knitting program, linking, washing, finishing, and measurement, where applicable.
  • Conduct regular factory visits to monitor production progress, quality, and delivery status and ensure products meet buyer expectations.
  • Ensure all fabrics, yarns, trims, and other raw materials are received well before the PCD (Planned Cut Date) or production start date.
  • Coordinate closely with Production, QA/QC, Fabric, Knitting, Washing, IE, and other relevant teams to ensure on-time shipment and 100% quality clearance.
  • Lead and guide a team of merchandisers, providing direction, follow-up, training, and problem-solving support.
  • Oversee complete order execution from initial product development and sampling through bulk production, finishing, inspection, and final dispatch.
  • Continuously monitor T&A progress and follow up with all relevant departments to maintain critical deadlines.
  • Prepare accurate cost reconciliation and order profitability reports upon completion of orders.
  • Analyze shipment results, quality issues, production performance, and buyer feedback and take corrective actions to minimize rejection, claims, and shipment delays.
  • Monitor key KPIs, including units shipped, revenue growth, margin improvement, on-time delivery, quality performance, and buyer satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with buyers, buying offices, factories, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Submit regular performance updates, order status reports, costing reports, and analytical reports to management.
