• Inspections: Conduct and oversee pre-production, inline and final inspections using AQL (ISO 2859 / ANSI Z1.4 or buyer standard); check measurements, fit and appearance against approved samples and specs.
• Underwear-specific checks: Verify seam strength and slippage, stitch density, elastic and waistband recovery, lace and edge finishing, bra cup shape and underwire (if applicable), label placement, skewing, shade variation and pilling.
• Critical defects: Watch for broken needles and metal contamination, loose threads, stains, holes and poor hygiene or packing standards; audit needle control and metal detection processes.
• Fabric and trim quality: Inspect incoming fabrics and trims (4-point system or buyer standard); check GSM, shrinkage, colorfastness and dimensional stability; approve lab dips and bulk quality before cutting.
• Testing and compliance: Coordinate physical and chemical testing with SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas or buyer-nominated labs; ensure compliance with buyer RSLs and market rules, including Japan's harmful-substance and household goods labeling requirements, and US FTC labeling (fiber content, country of origin, care) and California Prop 65.
• Corrective action: Prepare inspection reports with photos; issue corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), perform root cause analysis on recurring defects and follow up until closure.
• Factory development: Train factory QC teams on defect standards, inspection techniques and buyer expectations; support technical, social and process audits.
• Reporting: Maintain quality dashboards (defect rates, first-time pass rates, factory scorecards) and give merchandisers and management accurate shipment-readiness updates.

While underwear and lingerie specific training is mandatory, knowledge on knit and woven QA is also important.
