Garment Merchandising Manager
The Garment Merchandising Manager is responsible for driving new and existing business, end-to-end merchandising operations for assigned customers. The role ensures effective product development, accurate costing, smooth end-to-end order execution, quality compliance, and on-time shipment in line with buyer requirements.
This position serves as a key interface between buyers, factories, and internal teams to drive commercial success, operational excellence, and long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Buyer & Account Management
Acquire new buyers and drive existing business
Act as the primary point of contact for assigned buyers and brands
Manage all buyer communications related to development, costing, sampling, production, and shipment
Understand and ensure adherence to buyer standards, compliance requirements, and commercial expectations
Support buyer meetings, presentations, and seasonal development activities
Product Development & Costing
Coordinate seasonal product development with design, sourcing, and factory teams
Prepare accurate, competitive costings and conduct price negotiations with suppliers when required
Source appropriate fabrics, trims, and accessories aligned with buyer quality, cost, and lead-time targets
Ensure timely submission of all samples (Proto, Fit, SMS, PP, Size Set, TOP)
Order Management & Production Follow-Up
Review and confirm purchase orders (POs) and manage production timelines
Conduct and lead pre-production (PP) meetings to ensure clear execution guidelines
Monitor production status, capacity planning, and adherence to the critical path
Identify potential risks proactively and implement corrective actions to avoid delays
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure buyer quality standards are clearly communicated and properly implemented
Coordinate inline, final, and pre-shipment inspections
Work closely with QA teams and factories to resolve quality issues efficiently
Ensure factories meet compliance, social, and sustainability requirements
Shipment & Documentation
Coordinate shipment schedules with factories, forwarders, and buyers
Ensure accuracy of shipping documents (Commercial Invoice, Packing List, BL, etc.)
Track shipment status and support timely handover to buyers
Supplier Management
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors
Support supplier onboarding, evaluation, and performance monitoring
Align suppliers with buyer expectations on quality, cost, lead time, and compliance
Team Leadership & Internal Coordination
Lead, coach, and develop merchandising teams (Senior Merchandisers / Merchandisers)
Allocate workloads and monitor individual and team performance
Coordinate closely with QA, compliance, logistics, finance, and sourcing teams
Drive process improvements and best practices.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing (Knit / Woven / Denim / Outerwear )
Excellent costing, negotiation .
Strong understanding of production planning and critical path management
Ability to manage multiple buyers, styles, and deadlines under pressure
Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving ability with high attention to detail
Proven leadership and people-management capabilities
Familiarity with ERP or merchandising systems
Strong supplier network across multiple product categories and price points
Existing buyer contacts will be an added advantage
