Responsibilities & Context:
This role plays a crucial function in the environmental management of the company, with the primary responsibility of overseeing all aspects related to sustainability development. Ensuring compliance with environmental laws will be the top priority. The incumbent will collaborate within the CSR team, reporting to the Head of HR & CSR. Major role & responsibility are given below-
Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor and stay updated on environmental regulations and laws relevant to the organization`s operations.
Ensure that the company or institution complies with local, national, and international environmental standards.
Develop and implement strategies to address and rectify any non-compliance issues.
Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs):
Conduct environmental impact assessments to evaluate the potential effects of the organization`s activities on the environment.
Provide recommendations for mitigating negative impacts and enhancing positive contributions to environmental sustainability.
Waste Management:
Develop and oversee waste management programs to minimize the environmental impact of the organization`s waste generation.
Implement strategies for waste reduction, recycling, and proper disposal in accordance with environmental regulations.
Environmental Monitoring and Reporting:
Establish and implement monitoring programs to track environmental indicators and assess the organization`s environmental performance.
Prepare and submit regular reports to regulatory bodies, management, and other stakeholders detailing environmental compliance and performance.
Environmental Education and Training:
Conduct environmental awareness programs and training sessions for employees to promote a culture of environmental responsibility.
Provide guidance on sustainable practices and ensure that staff members are informed about environmental policies and procedures.
In addition to these primary responsibilities, environmental officers may also be involved in other tasks such as coordinating environmental audits, engaging with stakeholders, and participating in the development of sustainability initiatives within the organization.
