Experience:
Develop and approve dye recipes and formulations based on customer specifications and fabric types.
Oversee the creation of lab dips (small fabric samples dyed in the lab) to match the customer’s required colors.
Conduct color matching using spectrophotometers and other instruments to ensure precision in shades and hues.
Ensure that the color fastness and consistency of shades are in line with customer expectations.
Manage the preparation of lab dips and ensure that samples are sent to customers for approval within the required timelines.
Oversee communication with customers regarding lab dip approvals, ensuring timely feedback and necessary adjustments.
Maintain accurate records of all approved lab dips and dye recipes for future production batches.
Conduct testing of dyes and chemicals to ensure they meet the required standards for color fastness, pH balance, wash fastness, light fastness, and other quality parameters.
Perform tests on dyed samples for properties like shrinkage, staining, and color bleeding.
Collaborate with the quality control department to ensure that the bulk production process reflects the quality of lab-scale results.
Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory processes, ensuring all technicians follow them precisely.
Review and update SOPs regularly to reflect new techniques, equipment, or chemicals.
Ensure that all lab equipment, including spectrophotometers, color matching booths, weighing scales, and dyeing machines, are regularly maintained and calibrated.
Monitor the lab’s tools and ensure that they are functioning accurately to produce reliable and consistent results.
Manage inventory and ensure proper storage of dyes, chemicals, and auxiliaries required for lab dyeing.
Work with suppliers to source high-quality dyes and chemicals, and ensure that all substances used are compliant with environmental and safety standards.
Develop and maintain precise records of dye formulas, chemical usage, and test results for future reference.
Research and implement new dyeing techniques, dyes, chemicals, and technologies to improve quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
Experiment with innovative dyeing processes, such as digital printing, eco-friendly dyes, and natural dyeing methods, to stay competitive and environmentally compliant.
Collaborate with production teams to develop new products and processes that can be scaled up for bulk production.
Work closely with the dyeing department to transition lab-scale dyeing results into bulk production.
Monitor and support the production team during bulk dyeing to ensure that the colors match the approved lab dip.
Provide solutions to address any color discrepancies or issues that arise during production.
Ensure that the lab’s activities comply with environmental regulations regarding the use of dyes and chemicals.
Manage the safe disposal of laboratory waste and chemicals according to environmental guidelines.
Ensure compliance with certifications like OEKO-TEX, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), and ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) as applicable to dyeing operations.
Maintain regular communication with customers, buyers, or merchandisers to ensure that lab results meet their specifications.
Address customer queries regarding colors, dye formulas, and fabric behavior, and provide technical support for resolving issues.
Prepare and submit reports on lab tests, approvals, and any necessary corrections to the clients.
Supervise and lead the lab team, including lab technicians and colorists, ensuring that they are well-trained and capable of delivering accurate results.
Provide training on new dyeing techniques, testing methods, and safety practices.
Manage team schedules, assign responsibilities, and monitor the performance of lab staff.
