Experience:
Production Planning: Plan, direct, and coordinate cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing operations in line with the approved production schedule. Prepare and communicate work schedules to production teams to meet production objectives efficiently. Monitor production flow from line feeding and layout planning through packing to ensure on-time shipment. Track defined KPIs, analyze production performance, and take timely corrective actions where required.
Target Achievement: Ensure daily and hourly sewing production targets are met for each line. Achieve daily and monthly production targets while ensuring full compliance with buyer quality standards.
Line Balancing: Work with Industrial Engineering (IE) teams to balance sewing lines, ensuring a smooth flow of work (WIP management) and minimizing bottlenecks.
Style Changeover: Manage the "layout" or style changeover process to minimize downtime when switching from one garment style to another.
Input Management: Ensure that all necessary materials (cut panels, trims, and accessories) are available at the line before production begins.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP): Ensure operators follow the correct sewing sequences and methods as per the buyer’s technical file.
Defect Reduction & Ensure Quality production: Monitor the "Defects per Hundred Units" (DHU) and take immediate corrective action if quality issues arise. Resolve operational and technical production issues to maintain smooth workflow and product quality. Reduce production losses, including rejection, alteration, over-cutting, over-production, and excess overtime. Ensure final products fully comply with buyer specifications and quality requirements. Implement inventory control, waste reduction, and cost-saving initiatives across production processes.
Mock-up Approval: Oversee the creation of mock-ups for critical sewing processes to ensure operators understand the quality requirements before bulk production.
Manpower Allocation: Optimize the distribution of skilled operators and helpers across various operations based on the skill matrix. Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials to maximize productivity and minimize cost.
Discipline & Safety: Maintain floor discipline and ensure all workers follow safety protocols, including the use of needle guards and PPE.
Training & Skill Development: Identify skill gaps and arrange for the training of sewing operators to improve overall floor efficiency. Identify training development needs to enhance team efficiency and overall production standards.
Cross-Departmental Links: Coordinate with the Cutting department for timely input and the Finishing department for the smooth handover of sewn garments.
Production Meetings: Participate in Pre-Production (PP) meetings to discuss potential technical difficulties and production risks for new orders. Drive 100% capacity utilization and lead production teams effectively through strong floor-level control.
Reporting: Prepare daily production reports, efficiency charts, and "Plan vs. Actual" variance reports for the Chief Factory Manager. Prepare and submit production-related reports covering cost, maintenance, consumption, stock, manpower, quality, and safety.
Labor Law Compliance: Ensure that working hours, overtime, and break times are managed according to the factory's compliance policies. Ensure compliance with basic social compliance and workplace safety requirements.
