Job Context:
∎ Scope of Responsibility: Country level
∎ Grade level: Manager (Senior management for candidate with >15 years solid track record in environmental management; or Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager for candidate with less experience)
∎ Role Overview:
∎ This is a key country functional role in environmental management whose responsibility is to manage all environmental aspects related to sustainability development. To meet environmental legal compliance will be his/her key priority. He/ she will work under the country senior management, corporate CSR team as well as Youngone environmental sustainability council.
∎ He/ she will be highly involved in environmental sustainability project implementation and reporting in accordance with our strategic goals and policy defined by the Youngone environmental sustainability council, including environmental management system (EMS) improvement. He / she will be responsible for working with other functional heads and members to meet or exceed customers’ environmental requirements, including the adoption of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) Higg Index Facility Environmental Module (FEM). It is also important to deliver key environmental performance indicators given by our customers as well as council.
∎ He / she will be one of the key stakeholders in Youngone environmental sustainability strategy and new program development.
∎ He / she will be required to support regional/site HR to build people capability and awareness on environmental sustainability including but not limited to promoting the Youngone environmental sustainability policy and protection of local environment.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Oversee daily activities to maintain environmental management system (EMS).
∎ Generate environmental performance reports and maintain permits as per local legal compliance regulatory requirements.
∎ Ensure that industrial operations are in compliance with local, customers and corporate environmental requirement, regulations and policy.
∎ Plan and implement project activities required by the adoption of Youngone environmental sustainability council.
∎ Manage the annual Higg index FEM adoption following the Higg cadence cycle.
∎ Support Corporate CSR team to manage audits related to environmental sustainability.
∎ Support our factories in the country to carry out/update environmental impacts assessment, tracking & monitoring pollutions/emissions, contaminations and damages if required.
∎ Responsible for environmental mitigation required by laws if necessary.
∎ Produce quality and verifiable environmental data.
∎ Maintain environmental data management and reporting system.
∎ Educate industrial workers on environmental programs and policies.
∎ Respond to inquiries and concerns related to EMS.
∎ Review and recommend improvements to existing environmental strategies.
∎ Investigate environmental incidents and develop action plans.
∎ Working with sites EMS lead and officers to oversee pollution control programs and develop waste treatment and recycling procedures.
∎ Develop budget and timelines for environmental operations and develop cost reduction initiatives while still maintaining quality.
∎ Provide job trainings and assistance to local team members when needed.
∎ Promote awareness of the Youngone environmental policy to employees.
∎ Develop programs to engage in environmental improvement in your local context.
∎ Support the CSR stakeholders on CSR activities relating to employee engagement, brand and culture building.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Have at least 8 years of working experience in environment management.
∎ Experience may be relaxed for highly deserving candidate.
∎ Passionate in solving environmental sustainability problems and motivated to drive new changes.
∎ Experienced in environmental data management and analysis, as well as reporting.
∎ Demonstrating independent, critical and “context-based” thinking will be considered a merit.
∎ Solid environmental knowledge and experience in the fashion industry is preferable.
∎ Familiarised with ISO 14001 EMS as well as SAC Higg Index FEM requirements will be a good advantage.
∎ The ability to be comfortable with high volume workload and not afraid to "roll up sleeves".
∎ Have good knowledge of local country compliance and government regulatory.
∎ Strong relationship management and comfortable in dealing with business leaders.
∎ Strong communication skills with ability to engage people.
∎ Strong consulting and coaching skills with business partnering capability.
∎ Strong project management and change management skills.
∎ Being an enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment.
∎ Demonstrate training facilitation skills with ability to interact, engage and train employees on programs.
