Responsibilities & Context:

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive HR Manager to establish and manage the human resources function at Dhaka Stream. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup-like environment and is passionate about building an inclusive, ethical, and high-performance culture in a digital newsroom setting.

Key Responsibilities

HR Policy & Strategy

  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and a comprehensive employee handbook tailored to a digital media environment.
  • Align HR strategy with Dhaka Stream’s mission, values, and editorial culture.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Lead the recruitment process for editorial, technical, and operational roles.
  • Create job descriptions, manage job postings, conduct interviews, and coordinate onboarding.

Employee Relations

  • Foster a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Address employee concerns, resolve conflicts, and uphold journalistic workplace ethics.

Performance Management

  • Design and implement performance appraisal systems and feedback mechanisms.
  • Support department heads in setting KPIs and evaluating staff performance.

Training & Development

  • Identify skill gaps and organize training in digital journalism, media tools, and soft skills.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional development.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Manage payroll systems and ensure timely salary disbursements.
  • Design competitive salary structures and employee benefit programs.

Compliance & Legal

  • Ensure compliance with Bangladesh Labor Law and media-specific legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and contract documentation.

Freelancer & Contract Staff Management

  • Develop systems for engaging and managing freelance writers, content creators, and technical staff.
