Job Purpose

The Head of Construction will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the company's construction operations, ensuring that all residential, commercial and other real-estate projects are delivered safely, on time, within approved budgets, and to the required quality standards.

The position will be responsible for establishing strong construction systems, managing project teams and contractors, optimizing resources, controlling costs, resolving construction challenges and ensuring successful execution of multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

A. Construction Leadership & Strategy

• Develop and implement the company's overall construction strategy, policies, procedures and standards.

• Establish standardized construction methodologies, systems and reporting procedures.

• Review project priorities, resource requirements and construction schedules.

B. Project Planning & Execution

• Monitor progress against approved schedules and identify delays at an early stage.

• Coordinate with Design, Architecture, Engineering, Procurement, Commercial, Finance, Sales and other departments.

C. Cost & Budget Control

• Ensure construction activities remain within approved project budgets.

• Monitor project cost, material consumption, manpower and equipment utilization.

D. Quality Management

• Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, BOQ and technical standards.

• Monitor workmanship and quality of materials used at project sites.

E. Contractor & Consultant Management

• Lead the selection, evaluation and performance management of contractors and subcontractors in coordination with Procurement/Commercial.

• Monitor contractor productivity, quality, manpower and adherence to schedules.

• Negotiate and resolve construction-related disputes and claims.

F. Manpower & Resource Management

• Plan manpower requirements for current and upcoming projects.

• Ensure appropriate deployment of engineers, project managers, supervisors and skilled workers.

G. Health, Safety & Environment

• Ensure strict implementation of HSE/SHE standards across all construction sites.

• Establish site safety procedures and ensure compliance.

H. Regulatory & Statutory Compliance

• Ensure construction activities comply with applicable Bangladesh Building Code, RAJUK requirements, environmental requirements, labour laws, fire-safety requirements and other applicable regulations.

• Coordinate with relevant authorities, consultants and statutory bodies where required.

J. Project Monitoring & Reporting

• Establish a robust MIS and project monitoring system.

• Review weekly and monthly project progress reports.

• Track key indicators including:

  • Physical progress

  • Planned vs. actual progress

  • Cost vs. budget

  • Material consumption

  • Manpower productivity

  • Quality issues
