Responsibilities & Context:

Assistant Engineer (MEP)

  • Assist in the planning, design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of MEP systems for residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects.

  • Coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works with architectural, structural, civil, and other project disciplines.

  • Review MEP drawings, layouts, specifications, BOQs, shop drawings, and technical documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Monitor MEP installation works at project sites and ensure execution according to approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.

  • Assist in supervising electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, earthing, generators, transformers, UPS, and related installations.

  • Assist in supervising mechanical systems including HVAC, ventilation, pumps, equipment, and other building mechanical services.

  • Monitor plumbing and sanitary installations, including water supply, drainage, sewerage, rainwater systems, and related works.

  • Coordinate fire protection and fire-fighting system installations with relevant consultants and contractors.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify technical issues, installation discrepancies, defects, and non-compliance.

  • Review contractor and subcontractor work progress and ensure timely completion of assigned MEP activities.

  • Check material specifications, samples, technical submittals, and equipment selections against approved project requirements.

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing BOQs, material requisitions, quantity measurements, and cost estimates for MEP works.

  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of approved MEP materials and equipment.

  • Assist in reviewing contractor bills, work measurements, variation claims, and related technical documentation.

  • Participate in MEP coordination meetings and provide technical input for resolving site and design-related issues.

  • Assist in testing and commissioning of MEP systems and ensure proper documentation of test results.

  • Monitor system performance and assist in troubleshooting operational and technical problems.

  • Ensure MEP installations comply with applicable building codes, safety regulations, project specifications, and relevant standards.

  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, project managers, and site teams to resolve technical issues efficiently.

  • Maintain proper records of drawings, inspection reports, material approvals, testing reports, progress updates, and other MEP documentation.

  • Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly MEP progress reports for management and project teams.

  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and promptly report delays, technical risks, and critical issues.

  • Support implementation of energy-efficient and sustainable MEP solutions where applicable.

  • Ensure proper health, safety, and environmental practices are maintained during MEP installation and construction activities.

  • Assist in snagging, defect identification, rectification, and final inspection prior to project handover.

  • Review as-built drawings and ensure that completed MEP works are properly documented.

  • Support project handover by compiling testing, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and other required technical documents.

  • Perform any other MEP-related duties and responsibilities assigned by the Project Manager, Chief Engineer, Head of Engineering, or Management.
