Job Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and creative Product Design Engineer who specializes in both Plastic Injection Molding and Sheet Metal design. In this role, you will be responsible for bringing product concepts to life, from initial sketching and 3D modeling to creating production-ready manufacturing drawings. If you have a strong eye for detail, deep knowledge of manufacturing constraints, and a passion for creating functional, high-quality products, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities
3D Modeling & Design: Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for plastic and sheet metal parts using CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD).
DFM & DFA: Ensure all designs align with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles, specifically for injection molding, sheet metal stamping, bending, and welding.
Prototyping: Create prototypes (using 3D printing) to test fit, form, and function, and iterate designs based on feedback.
Material Selection: Choose appropriate plastics (ABS, PC, PP, etc.) and sheet metal gauges/materials based on product strength, cost, and application requirements.
Mold & Tooling Coordination: Collaborate closely with mold makers and tooling manufacturers to resolve design issues and optimize the production process.
Quality & Testing: Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and structural/thermal simulations (FEA) if required to ensure product durability.
