Position Purpose
The Electrical, Electronics & Control Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and availability of all electrical, electronic, control, instrumentation, and power systems across SML's heavy equipment fleet, terminal infrastructure, other machineries. The role leads diagnostics, preventive maintenance, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement of electrical systems while working closely with and complement the Mechanical & Hydraulic Engineer.
Assets Under Responsibility
Kalmar & Konecranes Reach Stackers; Side Loader Trailer (SLT); Tata & Ashok Leyland prime movers; Container chassis/trailers (electrical systems); Komatsu & TCM forklifts (1.5–10T); Perkins generators; Yard lighting, workshops, electrical panels, UPS/ATS, Lift, office backup power, Sub Stations, CCTV and access control power systems, etc.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical and electronic diagnostics on all fleet assets.
Diagnose ECU, CAN Bus, wiring harness, sensors, actuators, joystick controls, safety interlocks and instrument clusters.
Manage generator electrical systems including alternators, AVR, ATS, protection relays, load testing and earthing.
Maintain yard electrical infrastructure including MCC panels, lighting and distribution systems.
Support PLC, HMI, VFD and industrial control troubleshooting where applicable.
Maintain electrical drawings, alarm history, calibration and maintenance records.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to eliminate repeat failures.
Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical assets.
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards including LOTO and safe isolation procedures.
Evaluate technical quotations, recommend spare parts and liaise with OEMs.
