• Strong professional network across shipping lines, port stakeholders, customs, freight forwarders and C&F agents

• Sound knowledge of RMG cargo flow, CFS stuffing, import devanning, bonded depot requirements and operational compliance

• Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Bangla and English; familiarity with depot systems and logistics technology

Job Context

Shafi Motors Limited (SML), a private Inland Container Depot (ICD) and Container Freight Station (CFS) operator in Chattogram, seeks an experienced, commercially capable and hands-on Head of Operations. The role oversees depot activities, strengthens stakeholder relationships, ensures operational compliance and drives productivity, cost optimization and modernization.

Key Responsibilities

• ICD and CFS Operations

• Lead export, import and empty-container operations across the ICD, CFS and container yard

• Oversee export cargo receiving, sorting, storage, customs examination coordination, stuffing to approved container load plans, sealing and dispatch to Chittagong Port, including RMG and traditional export cargo

• Supervise import container receipt, customs coordination, devanning, cargo handling and delivery

• Coordinate empty-container receipt, storage, allocation, repositioning and dispatch, ensuring effective yard utilization and turnaround

• Oversee effective coordination among ICD, CFS, Customer Support and operational personnel, including continuous shift operations

Customs, Port and Stakeholder Coordination

• Maintain effective professional liaison with on-site customs officials, Bangladesh Customs, Chittagong Port Authority and relevant regulatory bodies

• Support bonded depot licensing and renewal processes, inspections and operational regulatory requirements

• Coordinate with shipping lines, MLOs, freight forwarders, C&F agents, exporters, importers and other depots to resolve operational issues and meet shipment commitments

Commercial Management and Cost Control

• Lead negotiations on handling rates, service terms and operational arrangements

• Understand revenue drivers across export, import and empty-container services and pursue cost minimization without compromising safety, compliance or service quality

• Improve cargo flow, yard capacity, labour utilization and container turnaround through practical process changes

Compliance, Security and Quality

• Ensure cargo and container operations comply with applicable customs rules, SOPs and relevant C-TPAT, GSV, ISO and ISPS-related requirements where applicable

• Coordinate with compliance personnel on audits, inspections, cargo security, seal control, documentation and corrective actions

• Maintain working awareness of fire safety and emergency procedures relevant to depot operations

Resources, Leadership and Modernization

• Communicate operational equipment and transport requirements to independent equipment, maintenance and transport teams; monitor availability and plan around constraints without assuming technical maintenance or vehicle-scheduling responsibility

• Lead and evaluate operational teams; recommend staffing, training and organizational changes

• Set and refine productivity benchmarks, monitor industry developments, recommend technology and modernization initiatives, and implement approved improvements

• Maintain regular communication with the Authority and provide concise, meaningful operational updates and reporting
