Job Context:
∎ The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.
∎ CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD`s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment.
∎ The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.
∎ CDD Office is now accepting applications for `Disability Inclusion Officer` under `District Inclusive Eye Care Programme (DIECP)` project supported by Sightsavers.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position will take the lead role to carry out all the activities set out in the project proposal.
∎ Carry out quality inclusive eye health services in the district of Kurigram, Rangpur, Sirajganj, Narsinghdi, Mymensing, Sherpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Magura, Kushtia, Chuadanga and Meherpur districts.
∎ Coordinate to conduct accessibility audit of partner's hospitals.
∎ Monitor implementation of recommendations of accessibility audit.
∎ Coordinate to conduct training programme of partner's hospital staff members on disability inclusion and gender mainstreaming.
∎ Assist partner hospitals to organize the meeting of the District Committee on Protection and Rights of Persons with Disabilities and stakeholder coordination meetings.
∎ Support hospital partners in developing IEC/BCC materials.
∎ Conduct regular monitoring visit in programme districts on inclusiveness.
∎ Coordinate to conduct training on Bangla sign language for the hospital staff.
∎ Provide technical supports to the partner hospitals to introduce accessible hospital and ensure inclusion in all aspects.
∎ Perform all the activities mentioned in the project document to achieve project objectives and aim.
∎ Assist to implement the monitoring suggestions/recommendations for improving the quality of service.
∎ Take different initiative to make the project more inclusive especially for persons with disabilities, ethnic minority and transgender people and women.
∎ Assist partner hospitals to carry out accessibility related activities considering all types of disabilities.
∎ Assist to prepare the FD-6, FD-2 and other documents for the NGOAB, and provide backstopping support to the team for collecting project approval letter from NGOAB along with collection of work completion certificate from respective DC or UNO (whichever is applicable) office and submit to Sightsavers within in the stipulated time.
∎ Participate in quarterly/yearly planning meeting including Patient Screening Programme (PSP) plan (set targets, dates, venue, etc.) jointly with Sightsavers.
∎ Cooperate and support to the monitoring team from Sightsavers.
∎ Develop case studies especially on good/best practices.
∎ Ensure the visibility of CDD and Sightsavers as appropriate.
∎ Maintain communication with partners and participate in observance of different days like World Sight Day, World Health Day, Autism Day, White Cane safety Day, International disability Day and International Women day.
∎ Regularly update concerned programme files.
∎ Accurately keep records related data of training participants, meeting, workshops etc.
∎ Support to prepare quarterly/annual/periodical/donors reports and/or financial report and ensure timely submission of the reports.
∎ Perform additional works/tasks according to the projects need and as being assigned by the CDD authority.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 25 to 40 years
∎ Post graduate in relevant subject will get preference.
∎ Minimum of 4-5 Years working experience, ideally in an eye/health care/disability and development sector.
∎ Experience of working with eye service providers will be an added advantage.
∎ Must have good understanding of community engagement, working with organizations of persons with disabilities.
∎ Knowledge, experience and skills in implementing donor funded project, good understanding on compliance issues and also having adequate knowledge on disability and inclusion issues will be added value.
∎ Sound knowledge on writing reports, meeting minutes and case studies in English are highly desirable;
∎ Good knowledge on computer/technology skills.
∎ Work Station is CDD Head Office, Savar Dhaka with frequent visits to project's other locations
