Responsibilities & Context:

The Head of Department (Factory) is responsible for overseeing end-to-end manufacturing operations within the automobile plant. The role ensures production targets, quality standards, cost efficiency, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives are achieved in alignment with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and monitor daily production activities.

• Ensure achievement of production targets (volume, quality, cost, and delivery).

• Optimize manpower, machinery, and materials utilization.

• Implement lean manufacturing and TPM practices.

• Drive zero-defect initiatives and continuous quality improvement.

• Coordinate with QA/QC teams for root cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance of plant machinery.

• Minimize downtime and improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

• Coordinate with the maintenance department for breakdown analysis.

• Ensure adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) policies.

• Promote a safe working culture across departments.

• Monitor production costs and implement cost-reduction strategies.

• Improve operational efficiency and reduce wastage.

• Lead and manage supervisors, engineers, and shop-floor staff.

• Conduct performance evaluations and skill development programs.

• Foster a culture of teamwork and accountability.

• Implement Kaizen, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
