Experience:
Strong practical knowledge of refractory maintenance for EAF, ladles, tundishes, and Steel Melt Shop equipment.
Hands-on experience in refractory repair, relining, gunning, patching, drying, and curing.
Strong shift supervision, manpower management, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
Good knowledge of industrial safety, PPE, work permits, LOTO, and safe working practices.
Strong coordination and communication skills with Production, Maintenance, and other relevant teams.

The vision of this concern is to produce world-class re-rolling products and billets, which will meet the uprising demand in the local market and will also bring significant economic growth by exporting around the globe. We are looking for a competent and experienced Shift In-Charge – Refractory for its Steel Melt Shop (SMS) Plant. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising shift-wise refractory activities in the Steel Melt Shop, including EAF, ladles, and tundishes, to ensure safe, timely, and quality execution of refractory maintenance and uninterrupted production.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise refractory maintenance of EAF, ladles, and tundishes by inspecting refractory conditions and directing repair/relining activities to ensure equipment reliability and safe operation.
Plan and coordinate shift-wise refractory jobs by reviewing production requirements and arranging manpower, materials, and equipment to complete activities within the scheduled time.
Monitor refractory condition and lining life through regular inspection and performance tracking to prevent premature failure and maximize refractory service life.
Supervise refractory repair and installation work by ensuring proper application, gunning, patching, drying, and curing practices to achieve required refractory performance.
Allocate and control shift manpower according to job requirements and workforce capability to ensure efficient utilization and timely completion of assigned activities.
Ensure safe execution of refractory work by enforcing PPE, work-permit, isolation/LOTO, and other safety procedures to prevent accidents and unsafe conditions.
Identify refractory defects and take corrective action through timely inspection and technical assessment to minimize refractory failure, equipment damage, and production interruption.
Coordinate with Production and Maintenance teams regarding refractory requirements, equipment availability, job progress, and shift handover to ensure smooth plant operations.
Maintain shift reports and refractory records covering repairs, lining life, material consumption, manpower, and pending jobs to ensure proper monitoring and accountability.
Review refractory performance and recommend improvements based on lining life, failure trends, and consumption to improve reliability, reduce costs, and enhance Steel Melt Shop performance.
