Job Context:
∎ Swisscontact is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the `Communications Officer` position for the M4C project. The incumbent will be the communication focal for the project during the tenure. Making Markets Work for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C) Project is mandated by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Government of Bangladesh. M4C aims to reduce poverty and vulnerability of char households by facilitating market systems that enhance opportunities for income generation. Until 2021, it has benefitted 131,700 char households in ten districts of northern Bangladesh with an additional income of BDT 13,000/household. Swisscontact, in collaboration with Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogura will continue to implement M4C in Gaibandha, Kurigram, Rangpur Jamalpur, Lalmonirhaat and Shariatpur districts.
∎ Employment Start: July 2022 (tentative)
∎ Reporting Line: This position will report to the Senior Manager-Innovation, Knowledge Management and MRM.
∎ Contract Duration: Initially 1 (one) year with a 3 months` probation (renewable until end of the project period).
∎ Place of work:The position will be based in Dhaka. However, frequent field visits in the chars play a large part in the incumbent`s activities; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to participate in such activities as needed and sometimes under short notice.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develop the project's communication objectives, strategies, guidelines, goals, and action plans in line with Swisscontact and development partner's communication guidelines.
∎ Design appropriate tools and ensure effective and meaningful communication with a wide range of audiences.
∎ Lead project capitalization and communication tasks to achieve project objectives strategically using communication tools and techniques.
∎ Ensure compliance with communication strategy and guidelines throughout project interventions.
∎ Manage relationship and support communication to ensure that the project learning is captured and disseminated by CDRC regularly.
∎ Track media footprints, establish a network and ensure project visibility by promoting the learning on national and international media platforms.
∎ Develop social media strategy, lead in social media content development tasks, ensure visibility on social media through coordination with Swisscoctact Bangladesh and CDRC and monitor regular positive social media presence.
∎ Provide support to the project's senior management in developing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the donor, reviewing various project reports and providing inputs as necessary.
∎ Manage working relationships with industry associations, private sector stakeholders, international development partners, field offices and other project partners.
∎ The incumbent may be, at times, required to perform duties that are beyond the scope of the job description given above.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Post-graduation in journalism, communication, or relevant subject is required. However, the academic qualification is negotiable for highly qualified candidates.
∎ At least 4 years of working experience as a communication officer in the development sector is required.
∎ Strong network and working experience with print and electronic media are highly preferred.
∎ Expertise in using video animation software and graphic designing will add advantages.
∎ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bengali and English are required.
∎ Excellent people management skills with good public speaking and presentation skills are highly preferred.
