  • Basic understanding of RMG sector ESG data source, data collection and validation processes and reporting standards (e.g., GRI, ESRS, IFRS, Higg FEM, buyer compliance standards).

  • Hands-on experience with product backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, ClickUp), journey mapping and process design tools (e.g., Miro, Lucidchart, Draw.io, MS visio, figjam), and product design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, InVision).

  • 1-2 years of project experience in digital product design, ESG or sustainability related initiative is preferred.

  • Experience in defining SAAS product cloud platform requirements, including estimating associated costs and budget implications to support product development, deployment, and scalability is a plus.

  • Excellent working knowledge of computer applications like MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point).

  • Experience of working with local, national NGOs and INGOs will be an advantage.

  • Ability to work productively in highly collaborative settings while also able to function independently.

  • Demonstrate ability to manage complexity and to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Proactive, problem solving, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

  • Product-oriented mindset with interest in design and innovation.

Responsibilities & Context:

Background

Swisscontact was established in 1959 as an independent foundation by notable figures from the worlds of commerce and science in Switzerland. It is exclusively involved in international development co-operation and has been carrying out its own and mandated projects since 1961.

Swisscontact’s working principles include inclusive systems development, learning culture, evidence-based adaptive management, and engaging private sector. In addition, the organisation’s sustainable criteria comprise of gender equality and social inclusion, financial capability, environmental responsibility, and good governance.

Swisscontact is currently implementing the PROGRESS project, funded by the Embassies of Sweden and Switzerland. The project is addressing skills development and ESG compliance needs in the RMG sector in Bangladesh. It supports the RMG factories to skill and upskill their existing workers as well as improve their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. As part of the project`s ESG interventions, a feasibility study and prototype were developed to assess market demand, technical requirements, and stakeholder needs for a digital ESG platform. Building on these insights, the TRACE (Technology for Responsible Accountability in Corporate ESG) initiative will run from January 2026 to December 2027.

The initiative will launch a commercially viable platform for Bangladesh`s RMG sector to streamline ESG data management. By enabling real-time reporting and matchmaking, the platform aims to drive decarbonisation, strengthen social compliance, and enhance the industry’s global competitiveness and resilience.
Swisscontact is inviting applications from eligible candidates for the position of Officer/ Senior Officer, Product Development. The role combines product design research, ESG data management and reporting process analysis, user experience research and design, product documentation, testing, and partnership support, working closely with factories, brands, associations, government agencies, and internal technical team.

Name of the position: Officer/ Senior Officer, Product Development

Employment start:  As soon as possible.

Contract duration:  Initial contract of one year with the possibility of extension till the end of the project.

Place of work: Dhaka, Bangladesh with regular visits to field locations (Gazipur, Narayanganj and Chattogram).

Reports to: Digitalisation Expert

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Act as a key contributor in RMG ESG product feature ideation by translating AS-IS ESG data collection, validation and reporting processes, industry compliance gaps, and multi-stakeholder user insights into actionable product features.

  • Identify current industry gaps and digitalisation opportunities and contribute to TO-BE design and solution ideation.

  • Support MVP development by contributing to product requirement identification, requirement elicitation with internal teams, factories, and partners and requirement prioritization aligned with MVP scope and timelines.

  • Conduct usability testing of prototypes, collect user feedback, and contribute to iterative product improvement.

  • Prepare and maintain product documentation, including user stories and functional descriptions, process flows and feature-level documentation.

  • Ensure product requirements reflect practical factory operations, ESG reporting standards, and partner expectations.

  • Conduct QA and beta testing, including functional testing, User acceptance testing (UAT), bug and issue tracking.

  • Support coordination with ESG technology partner during product design, development and quality testing and validation.

  • Assist in ensuring quality deliverables from technology partner by reviewing outputs against agreed requirements.

  • Support partnership development activities with apparel brands and buyers, industry associations Government agencies and regulators.

  • Support factory acquisition and onboarding, including preparation of pitch decks, product overview materials and onboarding documentation.

  • Preparing ESG platform cloud specification and assessment, identify potential local and global cloud service providers, and budget estimates.

  • Actively support the Team Leader/line Manager towards ESG platform design, development and implementation.

Physical Demands

Field visits play a large part in the incumbent’s activities; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities as and when needed and sometimes within short notice.
