Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the similar position of similar type of project with NGOs (preferably with international and national organizations).

  • Skilled in motorcycle driving with valid driving license is must.

  • High level of IT skill especially in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Data Analysis Software Operating and Internet Communication.

  • Proven writing and oral communication skills in English and Bengali.

Responsibilities & Context:

Youth-led Climate Action for Resilient and Equitable Communities (Youth CARE)

  • Nazrul Smriti Sangsad (NSS) is a non-government Humanitarian Organization working for advancement of poor women, men, children, youths, excluded people, person with disability and minority groups since 2000. It is a non-profitable, non-political, child and gender sensitive organization. It always values all diversified people without discriminating religions, casts, creeds and suppresses all sorts of discrimination with ethnic and minority people. It also values class and levels of team members as well as beneficiaries.

  • NSS is going to implement a three year’s project titled “Youth-led Climate Action for Resilient and Equitable Communities (Youth CARE)” funded by SIDA and Supported by Barnfonden. The project will be implemented at Taltali and Amtali Upazilas of Barguna district. Following this, NSS is searching some competent Technical Officer who has excellent experience on Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction, Environment Protection and Biodiversity or similar type of project. The Technical Officer (TO) is responsible for daily oversight of the project activities including capacity building of the project facilitators, youth club members and children, teachers, community people and farmers. The TO will develop training curriculum, session plans and facilitate training, orientation and meeting with different stakeholders. He / She will provide technical support to the community people to develop climate smart agriculture and environmentally friendly village to achieve the results of the project. The TO will coordinate with the wide range of stakeholders including the Govt. Officials of the project aligned Departments, Upazila Administration, Civil Society, LGIs and District level Govt.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare work plan based on the detailed implementation plan of the project activities.

  • Provide technical support to conduct survey, study and research.

  • Prepare training curriculum/module, session plans and handouts on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, environment protection and biodiversity.

  • Prepare school session module/curriculum on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, environment protection and biodiversity, child rights and gender.

  • Facilitate training on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, environment protection, biodiversity, child rights and gender for teachers.

  • Initiate to develop climate resilient agricultural activities in community level.

  • Provide support to form climate clubs and develop strategy, mandate and operational guideline for climate clubs.

  • Provide technical support to Project Facilitators to operate school sessions, demonstration of climate resilient agriculture.

  • Organize climate club led community awareness campaigns on climate change, disaster risk reduction, environment protection and biodiversity.

  • Provide technical support to club members to assess climate risks and vulnerabilities, developing risk reduction action plans and household level disaster preparedness plans.

  • Provide technical support to develop climate smart entrepreneurships amongst the young people.

  • Organize training and orientation to develop capacity of the team members for excellent implementation of project activities for achieving the results of the project.

  • Maintain communication and liaison with LGIs, GOs, NGOs, Civil Society Actors and Media.

  • Maintain relationship with Upazila Administration, PIO, Youth Development Department, Women and Children Affairs Department, Upazila Education Department and other relevant departments at Upazila and District level as per need.

  • Provide support to Project Coordinator (PC) to develop IEC materials, training modules, session plans, schedules etc.

  • Capture good practices, case story, life stories, lesson learnt and success stories.

  • Provide support to PC to review the project proposal, budget and action plan of the project according to the context.

  • Monitor the progress of the project regularly basis with at least 80% time in field visit and supervise the Project Facilitators.

  • Prepare monthly report and documentations on different activities and accumulate all data for ensuring quality and authenticity.

  • Always get ready to facilitate the progress of the project with internal and external visitors.

  • Practice, promote and endorse Child Protection and PSEAH policies among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Carryout administrative functions as desired by the project to meet the policy requirements of the organization and donor compliance. Assist the higher management in planning and decision making.
