  • Training and facilitation skills for preparing field teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in Bangla and English.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in field conditions.
  • Proficiency in digital data collection tools (e.g., ODK/KoBo, tablets) will be an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in field research management or large-scale data collection, preferably in the development sector.

Job Purpose: The role is responsible for leading the efficient and high-quality execution of field research activities within the Microfinance Programme by translating approved study designs into well-coordinated field operations. Ensure timely deployment of competent field teams, effective stakeholder coordination, adherence to research protocols, quality standards, and responsible resource management to enable reliable data collection, minimise operational disruption, and contribute to the timely delivery of credible research findings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive fieldwork plans covering study sites, timelines, field teams, logistics, resources, and budgets in alignment with approved research designs and implementation requirements.

  • Lead field team recruitment, contracting, onboarding, and training of enumerators, facilitators, and note-takers, ensuring competency and readiness prior to deployment.

  • Coordinate pilot testing and pre-testing of research instruments in field settings, document observations and operational issues, and recommend necessary refinements to the study lead.

  • Manage stakeholder coordination with branch, area, and regional offices to facilitate timely field access, minimise operational disruptions, and ensure smooth implementation of research activities.

  • Supervise and monitor field data collection activities through regular field visits, team accompaniment, session observation, and timely resolution of operational challenges, ensuring adherence to approved protocols and study standards.

  • Ensure compliance with research ethics and respondent protection requirements, including informed consent, confidentiality, safeguarding, and appropriate conduct throughout field activities.

  • Manage field-level budgets and financial processes, including advances, expenditure monitoring, documentation, and settlements, ensuring effective utilisation of resources within approved budgets.

  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address data quality issues, coordinate re-visits, and strengthen field team performance through targeted support and retraining.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive field documentation and records, including field schedules, attendance, consent documentation, incident reports, expenditure records, and lessons learned to support accountability, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
