Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project monitoring, field coordination, or data collection roles.

  • Experience training staff or enumerators on mobile data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK).

  • Ability to prepare clear, concise monitoring and project progress reports.

  • Familiarity with Excel, Google Suite, and mobile data tools.

  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills in English and the local language(s).

  • Willingness to travel regularly to field sites and support on-ground monitoring.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural setting.

  • High ethical standards and commitment to data integrity and learning.



Responsibilities & Context:

Based at: EWS-KT office in Bangladesh (Dhaka)

Travel: 60% travel to project locations in Bangladesh

East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation (EWS-KT) is a non-profit organization committed to enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder vegetable farmers across Asia and Africa by increasing their skills and knowledge. Operating in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ghana, India, Myanmar, Nigeria, the Philippines, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda, EWS-KT works directly with smallholder farmer communities to promote profitable and sustainable vegetable production. Through practical field-based training sessions, farmer-run demonstration plots, and locally adapted training materials developed with leading experts, EWS-KT empowers farmers with improved agronomic practices, integrated pest management, nutrient and water management, and business skills. With a special focus on women and youth, EWS-KT leverages strong partnerships and innovative digital platforms to drive sustainable agricultural growth in underserved rural communities.

Scope:

The MEL Officer supports project teams by monitoring field activities, coordinating data collection, and assisting with reporting at the country level. This role ensures accurate and timely data from the field, helps train enumerators and project staff on digital tools like the KT App (EWS-KT`s Monitoring app), and contributes to quality project reports that support decision-making and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor implementation of project activities, training programs, and field activities and report progress to the Bangladesh KT Manager and the MEL Manager.

  • Train project teams on the use of the KT App and train field enumerators on digital data collection tools.

  • Assist with the preparation and testing of questionnaires for baseline, endline, and other field surveys.

  • Provide field-level supervision and spot checks during data collection to ensure data quality.

  • Consolidate and review KT App data and monitoring data submitted by field teams and enumerators.

  • Develop reports for impact studies and for baseline, midline, and endline surveys to assess progress and inform mid-course corrections.

  • Synthesize findings into accessible learning products such as briefs, case studies, and program summaries.

  • Periodically prepare clear, well-structured project monitoring and progress reports.

  • Document good practices, impactful farmer stories, lessons learned, and field challenges for use in internal reviews.

  • Maintain organized records of monitoring tools, checklists, and field reports.

  • Support basic data entry and cleaning and follow-up with field teams on incomplete orг inconsistent records.

  • Coordinate with the KT Manager and MEL Manager to support timely reporting to donors and partners.

  • Participate in field visits and joint review meetings to strengthen data quality and project accountability.

  • Uphold confidentiality, data protection, and high ethical standards in all monitoring and reporting work.

  • Document lessons learned and support the MEL team with good project management practices.
