Qualifications and Experience:Masters’ degree in English (with teaching experincein English)At least 5-6 years of experience in material development and quality assurance/English teaching experience in English medium schools/ secondary school or college, preferably in an education field.Proven experience in developing educational materials, especially lesson plans, contextualizing TG for education projects.Strong understanding of subject contents, subject-based pedagogy, methods, and techniques.Familiarity with the Pearson Edexcel Curriculum or any English medium curriculum and its implementation.Proficient in English (both written and spoken).Strong leadership, analytical, observation, problem solving and reporting skills.Demonstrated ability to work with diverse and marginalized communities.



Responsibilities & Context:

Community Development Centre (CODEC) invites application for the position of Specialist-Material Developer & Quality Assurance (English) for implementing `Education and Protection for Refugee Community (EPRC) Project` funded by UNHCR, located at Ukhiya & Teknaf Cox’s Bazar)

Position Title: CBP Coordinator

Location: Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Reports to: Project Coordinator

Objectives of the Role:

  • Design lesson plans, preparing teaching learning materials, contextualizing the TG of English and other materials based on the Pearson Edexcel Curriculum.

  • Conduct teacher observations and monitoring visit to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum.

  • Provide professional development support for the teachers and TOs .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive and interactive lesson plans for English for the diverse needs of the teachers.

  • Conduct regular field visits, facilitate classroom observations and teaching practice, support teachers to develop teachers’ session facilitation skills (including pedagogical and subject contents skills).

  • Observe training facilitation and facilitate teacher’s training/refreshers, ongoing professional development activities, identify gaps and provide solutions to mitigate those including facilitating capacity building initiatives for TOs as well as teacher (as needed).

  • Analyze the use of teaching material in schools and teachers training (including training modules), provide feedback or develop new materials/adapt materials (as needed) to make sure the contents are relevant with curriculum/training subjects as well as age appropriateness.

  • Monitor teachers and students’ progression, generate monthly reports on major findings with proposed solutions including initiating remedial activities.

  • Support teachers in understanding the Teachers’ Guide (TG) so they can provide quality education in the classroom

  • Develop and submit periodic reports on lesson plan development and quality assurance activities and others as required by the project management team

  • Collaborate with focal, co-focal, HT and teacher to make sure harmonized implementation decisions (material/technical guidance/reporting etc) across schools and facilitate training/workshops.

  • Lead in facilitating formative and summative assessment process (including developing guidelines/ questions etc).

 Reports and deliverables :

  • Preparing & contextualizing lesson plans for English, and other subjects assigned by the supervisors and as per the project needs.

  • Regular class observation and quality assurance activities reports with actionable feedback

  • Recommendations for continuous improvement of teaching materials and practices.

  • Evaluate Teachers’ performance/progression and students’ performance and report accordingly

  • Preparing weekly/ bi-weekly/monthly report, training and event report

  • Any other task assigned by the management.

Safeguarding & PSEA:

  • S/he should abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)`s six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy.

  • Ensure the safety of team members (in respect to Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse - PSEA) from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program`s goals on safeguarding implementation.

  • Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
