Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context
MDM Architects (Mukta Dinwiddie MacLaren) is a multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, and sustainability consultancy with offices in Dhaka, London, and Abu Dhabi, working across humanitarian infrastructure, PPP advisory, disaster-resilient design, water management, and government procurement. We are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting structural analysis and design across our project portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

1. Carry out structural analysis and design of buildings and infrastructure projects, including RCC, steel, and composite structures.

2. Prepare structural design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.

3. Attend and lead client meetings to understand project requirements, present structural solutions, and incorporate feedback.

4. Coordinate directly with foreign clients, consultants, and partner organizations on international and donor-funded projects.

5. Develop project proposals, technical narratives, and BOQs/documentation for tenders and bids.

6. Produce 3D structural models and renderings to support design presentations and client communication.

7. Coordinate closely with architectural, electrical, mechanical, and other engineering teams for integrated design solutions.

8. Prepare working drawings and construction documentation in line with project specifications, building codes, and standards.

9. Conduct site visits, structural surveys, and assessments to inform design decisions and monitor construction progress.

10. Ensure designs comply with the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC), disaster-resilient design principles, and international standards where applicable.

11. Prepare presentation materials and technical reports for client and stakeholder review.

12. Collaborate with the Principal and senior structural engineers on design direction and quality control.

13. Mentor junior engineers and support staff as required.
