Role Summary:

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for the direct oversight of all yard personnel and material processing activities. The goal is to hit daily production targets while maintaining strict quality control over metal grades and ensuring that every team member goes home safe.

This is a hands-on leadership role that requires constant presence on the yard floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Crew Management: Direct the daily activities of sorters, torch cutters, and heavy equipment operators.

• Production Flow: Monitor the intake at the scale and direct traffic to the correct processing zones (e.g., non-ferrous warehouse vs. ferrous pile).

• Equipment Oversight: Conduct daily pre-shift inspections on excavators, loaders, and stationary shears; report any mechanical issues immediately to Maintenance.

• Material Grading: Verify that incoming loads are free of contaminants (e.g., wood, plastic, or hazardous tanks) and correctly graded for maximum value.

• Safety Enforcement: Lead daily "Tailgate Meetings" and enforce the use of PPE, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and fire prevention protocols.
