Experience:

Minimum 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience in the skin care, cosmetics, toiletries, personal care, pharmaceutical, or closely related manufacturing industry.
Candidates with direct experience in skincare/cosmetic product manufacturing will receive strong preference.
Experience must include practical laboratory testing rather than purely administrative or documentation-based quality experience.

1. Position Purpose
Chemist – Laboratory will be responsible for conducting raw material, in-process, finished product, stability, and other laboratory testing to ensure that skincare and personal-care products consistently meet established quality, safety, efficacy, and regulatory requirements.
This position requires a hands-on laboratory professional with practical experience in the skin care, cosmetics, toiletries, personal care, or related FMCG manufacturing industry, with strong knowledge of chemical analysis, formulation-related testing, laboratory procedures, and quality standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Raw Material Testing
Perform physical, chemical, and analytical testing of incoming raw materials according to approved specifications and test methods.
Test ingredients such as oils, emollients, surfactants, emulsifiers, preservatives, fragrances, active ingredients, thickeners, colors, and other cosmetic raw materials.
Verify raw material specifications, Certificate of Analysis (COA), and test results before release.
Identify and report non-conforming raw materials to the concerned department.
Maintain accurate records of all raw material testing and release activities.
B. In-Process & Finished Product Testing
Conduct laboratory testing of skincare and personal-care products during production and after completion.
Perform testing such as:
pH
Viscosity
Appearance/colour/odour
Specific gravity/density
Moisture content, where applicable
Active ingredient assay, where applicable
Microbiological-related coordination/testing, where applicable
Other product-specific chemical and physical parameters
Ensure finished products conform to approved specifications before release.
Investigate abnormal or out-of-specification (OOS) test results.
C. Laboratory Operations
Ensure proper operation, calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
Handle chemicals, reagents, solvents, and laboratory materials safely.
Prepare standard solutions, reagents, buffers, and test samples as required.
Ensure chemicals and reagents are properly labelled, stored, and monitored for expiry.
Maintain laboratory housekeeping and good laboratory practices.
D. Quality Control & Documentation
Follow approved SOPs, specifications, test methods, sampling procedures, and laboratory protocols.
Maintain laboratory worksheets, analytical records, test reports, logbooks, and related documentation.
Ensure complete traceability of laboratory test results.
Participate in OOS investigations, deviation investigations, CAPA, and corrective/preventive actions.
Ensure laboratory practices comply with applicable company quality systems and regulatory requirements.
E. Compliance & Quality Systems
Follow relevant GMP, GLP, ISO, cosmetic/personal-care quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Support internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
Ensure laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with approved procedures.
Report any quality, safety, contamination, or laboratory compliance issues immediately to the supervisor.
F. Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with Production, R&D, QA, QC, Warehouse, Procurement, and other relevant departments.
Communicate laboratory test results promptly to concerned departments.
Prepare periodic laboratory reports and quality-related summaries.
Escalate critical quality issues to the Laboratory Manager/Head of QC without delay.
