  • Must hold a valid API 653 certification.
  • API 510 certification is a significant plus.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience inspecting steel above-ground storage tanks and/or pressure vessels.
  • Proven experience with NDT methods; NDT Level II certifications (UTT, MT, PT, VT) are highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASTM, ASME Section IX, and API standards.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing tanks (up to 150+ ft), working at heights, and navigating confined spaces.
  • Strong computer skills for report writing (MS Word, Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Responsibilities & Context:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified API 653 Inspector to join our Quality Control team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and safety of above-ground storage tanks (ASTs) and vessels through meticulous inspection, in strict compliance with API 653 standards. This role is hands-on and requires a deep understanding of steel tank and vessel construction, repair, and alteration processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed inspections of above-ground storage tanks (ASTs) and pressure vessels in accordance with API 653, API 510, and related standards.
  • Conduct inspections for new construction, repairs, alterations, and in-service tanks.
  • Utilize Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods, with a strong emphasis on Ultrasonic Thickness (UTT) testing.
  • Perform visual inspections (VT) during blasting, coating, and welding operations.
  • Monitor and inspect weld procedures and welder qualifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, and P&IDs.
  • Generate detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, recommendations, and compliance with codes.
  • Identify anomalies, corrosion mechanisms, and potential failures.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and client representatives to ensure quality and schedule adherence.
  • Champion safety protocols and ensure all work is performed in accordance with company and site-specific safety plans.
