Completion of Bachelor of Laws (Master of Laws will get preference).
Requirements: Skills Required: Additional Requirements: - Applicants should be highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Very comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Bangla composing skills, internet navigation, etc.).
- 2 years’ working experience in relevant field.
- Demonstrated interest in judicial reform, access to justice, and legal aid services for the poor.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to achieve complex results under strict deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethics, transparency, and accountability in program implementation.
- Excellent spoken and written English and Bangla.
Responsibilities & Context: Responsible for:
- Implement activities in line with the Inclusive Citizenship (IC) program at the field level.
- Act as the focal point for all legal information and support within the program and the organization at the field level.
- Provide legal counseling and advice to paralegals and beneficiaries.
- Facilitate and deliver legal awareness sessions for marginalized communities, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.
- Assist in filing cases with DLAC, follow up on dispute settlements, and maintain mediation records.
- Supervise the legal work of Friendship Community Paralegals (FCPs).
- Support beneficiaries in filing complaints, FIRs, and GDs at police stations.
- Assist in filing CR cases before relevant courts.
- Maintain regular communication and provide support to panel lawyers.
- Organize and conduct monthly orientation programs for FCPs/FCGAs.
- Collect and analyze case stories, submitting them to the Legal focal point at Head Office.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor paralegals, Legal Information Booths, and report findings to the Legal focal point at Head Office.
- Facilitate training and capacity-building sessions for supervisors and paralegals on legal issues.
- Liaison with public and private stakeholders at union, upazila, and district levels to ensure access to justice for beneficiaries.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly legal reports and work plans as per guidelines.
- Undertake administrative and management responsibilities as required.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the Legal focal point at Head Office.
Activities:
- Ensure legal empowerment through legal movement in marginalized communities.
- Conduct regular outreach programs to raise legal awareness in marginalized communities.
- Prepared educational materials on relevant topics for Friendship Community Paralegals.
- Assist to prepare different manual for Friendship Community Paralegals.
- Support to organize the training session for the local mediators from the community to handle disputes effectively.
- Ensure that important legal documents are properly executed and filed.
- Collaborate with local and national authorities to address systemic legal issues.
- Regular monitoring on-going cases.
- Promote alternative dispute resolution methods like arbitration and negotiation.
- Train community members in Traditional Salish techniques to resolve conflicts amicably.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of legal cases in the area.
- Analysis of Friendship Community Paralegals monthly report.
- Maintain Communication with DLAC, Upazila Administration and Up Bodies.
- Maintaining good coordination/collaboration with other partners and stakeholders Ensuring the safety and security of project and office equipment/materials and documents.
- Following the organizational Code of Ethics and policies.
- Handling any other responsibilities as requested by the supervisor.
