Professional Experience:

  • 01 Year previous experience in household survey, data collection, monitoring, assessment, PDM, or humanitarian/development projects.

  • Practical experience with Kobo Toolbox/ODK/Comm Care/ Survey CTO, or similar digital data collection platforms.

  • Good understanding of household survey techniques and respondent interaction.

  • Experience working in Rohingya refugee camps or humanitarian settings.

  • Prefer to knowledge in GIS mapping.

Professional requirements:

  • Keep strong coordination with other implementing agencies and local governmental authorities at field level.

  • Keep strong coordination with Shelter project team members.

  • Knowledge on different standards (Sphere, Core Humanitarian Standards, etc).

  • Good communication skills.

Language

  • Good in Bangla skills (written).

  • Fluency on Cox’s Bazar/Rohingya Local dialect is an asset.

  • Prefer to good in English

Responsibilities & Context:

Duty station: Ukhiya (Camps), Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Starting date: Immediate

Contract duration: 6 months

Contract type: Full time

Reports to: Officer-MEAL & MIS

Coordinates with: MEAL Department and Shelter team

Direct line manager of: N/A

Main Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Data collection:

    • Conduct household-level surveys and interviews with selected beneficiaries’/community members in Camp-14, Camp-15 and Camp-16 under Shelter TSS project.

    • Collect project data using Kobo-Toolbox or other approved digital data collection platforms.

    • Follow the approved questionnaire, sampling methodology, and data collection protocol.

    • Ensure that all questions are asked accurately and neutrally without influencing respondents' answers.

    • Collect data on shelter assistance, household needs, satisfaction, utilization, appropriateness, accessibility, and other relevant indicators.

    • Ensure complete and accurate recording of respondent information and survey responses.

    • Monitor Shelter TSS project activities against project indicators and targets

    • Collect accurate quantitative and qualitative data and verify project outputs, beneficiary coverage, distributions, and implementation progress.

    • Maintain accurate beneficiary records with required disaggregation by sex, age, disability, location, and other relevant categories.

    • Support Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) by collecting community feedback and complaints through approved Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms (CFM) and referring sensitive cases confidentially.

    • Ensure inclusive participation of women, Ethnic Peoples, persons with disabilities, older persons, and other vulnerable groups.

    • Maintain confidentiality, informed consent, data protection, and accurate records of questionnaires, beneficiary lists, monitoring forms, and other evidence.

    • Coordinate with Project Officers, Community Facilitators, community leaders, Maji and relevant stakeholders.

    • Support evaluations, learning activities, rapid assessments, and other duties assigned by the MEAL Officer or Project Manager.

    • Perform other relevant duties assigned by the concerned authority.

  • Community Engagement and Ethical data collection:

    • Prepare and submit field data, reports, monitoring updates, documentation, case studies based on project demand in consultation with Line Manager i.e, Daily, Weekly, Monthly etc

    • Prepare and submit field data, monitoring updates, and supporting documentation to the MEAL Officer.

    • Explain the purpose of the survey clearly to respondents before starting the interview.

    • Obtain informed consent before collecting any information and photographs.

    • Respect respondents' privacy, dignity, culture, and choices.

    • Conduct interviews in a safe and appropriate location while maintaining confidentiality.

    • Never force, pressure, or influence respondents to participate.

    • Avoid making promises regarding assistance, selection, or project benefits.

    • Immediately refer complaints, protection concerns, or sensitive disclosures through the established referral/FCRM mechanism rather than attempting to investigate or resolve them personally.

  • Data quality assurance:

    • Check each completed questionnaire/data before submission to ensure completeness and consistency.

    • Immediately report any technical, logistical, or data-quality issues to the supervisor.

    • Avoid duplicate interviews and ensure that the correct household/beneficiary is interviewed.

    • Follow skip patterns, validation rules, and other instructions incorporated into the digital questionnaire.

    • Participate in data cleaning, verification, cross-checking and back-checking activities when required.

    • Maintain accuracy and consistency throughout the data collection process.

  • Field coordination

    • Coordinate with the MEAL team and relevant Shelter (TSS) project staff, FF and CM during field-level data collection.

    • Follow the daily data collection plan and assigned household/sample list.

    • Maintain regular communication with the Field Supervisor/MEAL team regarding field progress.

    • Follow camp access, movement, and security procedures at all times.

    • Coordinate respectfully with community leaders, volunteers, and respondents without compromising the independence of data collection.

  • PSEA and other organizational compliance

    • Strictly comply with HEKS/EPER's Code of Conduct, PSEAH, safeguarding, protection, and confidentiality requirements.

    • Maintain strict confidentiality of all personal, household, and survey information.

    • Do not share respondent information, photographs, recordings, case details, or survey data with unauthorized persons.

    • Do not collect unnecessary personal or sensitive information.

    • Immediately report any safeguarding, PSEA, fraud, misconduct, or confidentiality concern through the approved reporting mechanism.

    • Ensure that all interactions with women, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups are conducted safely and respectfully.

    • Proactively support organization commitments to gender equality, child protection and disability sensitivity:

      • i) Implement all work-related activities with a gender, disability and child protection lens, considering the different needs, concerns and ideas of our staff and beneficiaries

      • ii)Ensure the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities

Job Other Benifits:
    • Consolidated Salary: Gross Salary BDT 30,274.00
