Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
Master's degree preferred.
• 15–20+ years of experience in chemical, fertilizer, petrochemical, or sulfuric acid manufacturing.
• Minimum 5–10 years in a senior operations leadership role.
• Proven experience in commissioning and startup of sulfuric acid or similar process plants.
• Experience with DCDA (Double Contact Double Absorption) sulfuric acid technology preferred.
1. Project Commissioning & Startup
• Lead operational readiness activities for the new sulfuric acid plant.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies, and commissioning planning.
• Develop startup procedures, operating manuals, and SOPs.
• Coordinate with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractors, licensors, and equipment suppliers.
• Manage plant performance testing and acceptance trials.
• Ensure smooth transition from commissioning to commercial operation.
2. Production Operations
• Manage day-to-day plant operations to achieve production targets.
• Ensure optimal operation of sulfur melting, sulfur burning, converter, absorption, acid cooling, and storage systems.
• Monitor process parameters and plant efficiency.
• Implement production planning and scheduling.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce operating costs.
3. Process Safety & HSE
• Establish and enforce process safety management systems.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Develop emergency response and crisis management plans.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
4. Maintenance & Reliability
• Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure high equipment reliability.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Monitor critical equipment including:
• Sulfur burners
• Converters
• Absorption towers
• Acid pumps
• Blowers and compressors
• Instrumentation and control systems
• Minimize downtime and optimize asset performance.
5. Quality Management
• Ensure sulfuric acid product meets customer and regulatory specifications.
• Implement quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Monitor laboratory testing and process quality indicators.
6. Environmental Compliance
• Ensure compliance with emission standards for SO₂, SO₃, and acid mist.
• Manage environmental monitoring programs.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections and reporting requirements.
• Drive sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives.
7. Team Leadership
• Recruit, train, and develop operations personnel.
• Establish shift structures and workforce planning.
• Set performance objectives and conduct evaluations.
• Build a high-performance operational culture.
8. Budget & Cost Control
• Prepare and manage operational budgets.
• Monitor production costs, utility consumption, and raw material usage.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
• Support annual business planning and forecasting.
