Job Context
Department: Product Development
Job Location: Factory (Sonargaon)
Job Summary: The Product Development Executive will be responsible for developing, testing, optimizing, and transferring cosmetic and personal care products from laboratory-scale formulation to commercial production. The position will work closely with Production, Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, and Packaging teams to ensure that products meet required standards for quality, safety, stability, performance, cost, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
Cosmetic Product Formulation & Development
Develop new cosmetic and personal care formulations such as creams, lotions, gels, shampoos, conditioners, cleansers, face washes, serums, body care products, hair care products, and other relevant products.
Prepare laboratory and pilot-scale batches according to development requirements.
Select and evaluate suitable raw materials, functional ingredients.
Product Testing & Stability Evaluation
Conduct physical and chemical evaluation of newly developed and modified products.
Monitor parameters such as appearance, color, odor, pH, viscosity, density, homogeneity, and other product-specific specifications.
Analyze stability results and recommend formulation or packaging improvements where necessary.
Scale-Up & Production Transfer
Transfer approved laboratory formulations to pilot and commercial production.
Prepare & maintain formulation sheets, manufacturing instructions, batch manufacturing procedures, & process parameters.
Work with the Production team during trial and commercial batches.
Assist in establishing appropriate mixing time, temperature, sequence of addition, homogenization, agitation, filling, and other process parameters.
Ensure that laboratory-developed formulations are practical and reproducible at production scale.
Raw Material Evaluation
Evaluate new and alternative raw materials for product development and cost optimization.
Review technical documents, specifications, COA, SDS/MSDS, and relevant supplier information.
Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure formulations are developed in accordance with applicable cosmetic quality, safety, hygiene, and manufacturing requirements.
Coordinate with QA/QC regarding product specifications, testing requirements, deviations, and corrective actions.
Product Improvement & Cost Optimization
Review existing products and identify opportunities for improvement in quality, performance, stability, appearance, and consumer experience.
Develop cost-effective alternatives while maintaining product performance and quality.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of formulations, laboratory trials, test results, stability studies, specifications, and product development activities.
Prepare development reports and trial batch reports.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Coordinate with Production, QC, QA, Regulatory, Procurement, Packaging, Engineering, and Marketing teams throughout the product development process.
Participate in production trials and technical meetings.
