Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Supervise daily laboratory activities, ensuring accurate and timely testing of raw materials, glazes, and finished tiles.
∎ Implement and maintain laboratory testing protocols and procedures.
∎ Ensure the proper functioning and calibration of lab equipment.
∎ Conducted and oversaw tests on the physical and chemical properties of raw materials, including clay, silica, and glazes.
∎ Perform quality checks on tile attributes such as dimensional stability, surface quality, hardness, water absorption, and thermal shock resistance.
∎ Analyze and interpret test results, identifying deviations and providing corrective recommendations.
∎ Ensure all lab tests and processes align with international standards (ISO, EN, ASTM) and customer requirements.
∎ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of quality certifications and testing standards relevant to ceramic tiles.
∎ Maintain detailed records of test results, calibration data, and laboratory procedures.
∎ Prepare comprehensive lab reports and present findings to senior management.
∎ Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory activities.
∎ Lead, train, and mentor lab technicians and QC staff.
∎ Monitor staff performance and ensure adherence to safety and quality protocols.
∎ Promote continuous learning and skill enhancement within the lab team. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance testing accuracy and efficiency.
∎ Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot quality issues based on lab findings.
∎ Ensure all laboratory activities adhere to workplace safety guidelines.
∎ Manage the safe handling and disposal of chemicals used in testing processes.
