Job Context:
∎ Amorjoti special school, Dhaka is operated by Disabled Rehabilitation and Research Association under Durable Care & Education Project. The project is implementing in Dhaka and Manikganj. The school is providing education, rehabilitation services for the children with disability since 2014. The school is mainly focused to provide support for the children with disability in slum area of Badda, Dhaka.
∎ Job Location: Dhaka (Require periodical visit in Manikganj for coordination/capacity building activities)
∎ The position is responsible for the administration and operation of the school who need to play the role as instructional leader of Amorjoti Special School. The action and activities to establish and maintain educational program in compliance with the DRRA and government policies and directs the operations of the Amorjoti Special School and outreach programs. S/he should play role to establish and maintains a positive school climate for learning, behavior, safety, health and welfare of the students, parents/caregivers and personnel.
∎ The education focuses on emotional and cognitive development, developing creativity and learning social, cultural and physical skills. The lessons are practically oriented and tailored as much as possible to individual needs. In the lessons, we make use of various existing theories and methodologies. The learning and play materials help children develop academic skills, the ability to concentrate and make their own choices, they help with coordination, a sense of order and growing independence. The wide range of educational materials invite independent learning and provide inspiration for creative play. During the school year, parents are supported and trained, so that the child can also apply the lessons learned at home.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Distinguishing Characteristics:
∎ Working under general direction, incumbent assists in the development and implementation of goal and objective of the project as well as special education program.
∎ Budgetary responsibilities include assistance in developing, administering and monitoring program budgets and approving expenditures within approved budget.
∎ Supervisory responsibilities including day to day supervision of staff, conducting staff evaluation.
∎ Plans project objective, make major decision In project operation and frequently refer specific cases to supervisor.
∎ Duties and Responsibilities:
∎ Plan manage, assign and supervise of Special Education programs conducted within Amorjoti Special School, Dhaka.
∎ Direct and monitor School support activities to ensure facilities maintenance, administrative & financial operation, appropriate record keeping.
∎ Establish, implement and maintain effective system for school record and office support services.
∎ Prepare and present a variety of reports like as monthly, quarterly, half yearly and yearly project report, half yearly children progress reports, events report, records and statically data regarding activities, attendance, instructional need and services.
∎ Assist in developing, maintaining, monitoring and administering program budget, monitor and approve expenditures, respond to request from staff for budget expenditures.
∎ Plan, develop and implement of staff development and in service training programs.
∎ Work closely with parents, keeping them appraised of educational activities, and soliciting their input for programs change and improvement.
∎ Participates in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting for enrolled students and measure the quarterly progress.
∎ Develop session plan for the children with disabilities based on the existing educational materials.
∎ Prepare teachers guideline for conducting the classes etc. Introduce innovative session to the class exploring the potentials of the children;
∎ Ensure appropriate teaching to the children through the teachers based on the education plan;
∎ Collaboratively creates and implements a plan for School Wide Positive Behavior Support that encourages students to set goals and monitor their own behaviors.
∎ Counsels students, recommends, and implements students intervention or disciplinary action in accordance with the organizational code of conduct.
∎ Plans and coordinates extra-curricular activities for students, including interaction with students at general educational site.
∎ Oversees the safe and appropriate transportation of all students to and from School and extracurricular activities; looks after students until adequate home supervision can be located.
∎ Provides parents with information concerning the special needs of the students, Disability Protection Act-2013 and due process; participates in due process meditation as required.
∎ Prepare the School budgets and maintains budgetary control.
∎ Ensure close collaboration and coordination with cooperating partners to guarantee smooth implementation of activities and achievement of results as specified in grant agreements.
∎ Be the main contact point and responsible for communication with local and foreign well-wishers of the school.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 40 to 50 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ 10 years' experience in the field of education/special education, social work and project management.
∎ Pleasant personality with the adaptation, acceptance, caring mentality and support to team, students, parents and caregivers
∎ Being sensitive and empathetic with excellent communication skill with student, parents and caregivers
∎ Strong leadership skills so that students, staff, and parents show respect, listen, and act accordingly.
∎ Knowledge on principles practices, methods and techniques used in curriculum development and classroom instruction for Special Education.
∎ Methods and approaches to planning individualized instructional programs and services, according to identified need and requirements.
∎ Principles and practices of modern management including personnel administration, organizational development, staff development, purchasing and information process.
∎ Funding sources of Special Education program and variety of related regulations, controls and reporting process.
∎ Education Policy in Bangladesh, UNCRPD, Child right, NDD Trust Act, Disability Protection Act-2013, local laws, codes, ordinance, regulations and others requirements which are applicable for the education field in general and special education.
∎ Evaluation and assessment techniques used in determining effective teaching and instructional methods.
∎ Person with disability are encouraged to apply
